Took some serious effort but I got all the hard to gets without giving in to scalpers. Still waiting on my new case so I can isolate my 3080 from the PSU with a shroud but got the 5600x and Suprim 3080. Very impressive combo.

subscribe to newegg on twitter and setup push alerts. They'll notify you before a drop.

I added all combos and all individuals cards to two separate wishlists. When you select your wishlist all potential combos will show and if you get lucky one at least will stick in your cart. They drop almost on the exact second that newegg says they will so be ready to F5 rapidly. Also have your phone with the newegg by your side doing the same thing. Mine had my PC showing no items available, but phone did. I added it to phone and refreshed cart on my PC and the card was there. I've heard a rumor this is what newegg is looking for to help keep cards out of the carts of Bots.

Make sure you have all your newegg account info entered in advance including credit card.

I got lucky on mine and it was a combo drop and the Suprim stuck...ended up bundling with just a VGA adapter they credited back so I didn't have to pay for a legit combo, just the card.

yeah since yesterday they are about 20$ higher , all of them.

I had like 5 or 6 model under 600$ cad, now only 3.

also here, everything (almost) is closed (25dec to 9 feb), also curfew. so no chance to get it locally.

What they should do, is to make it harder to buy a huge batch. All major stores should receive the biggest batch, and put a limit of 2 by buyer/address.

Funny thing is there was a recent report about how money for electricity is hampering margins on mining. Just not getting the results per watt as before.

depends where, here we have ton of mining rig, they have low rate, 0.07$/kW.

Its cheap , im paying around 0.08X$/kW right now, depending of the weather (how many -25°C dry buld we got and how many +30°C), im around 1600-1800$/ year of electricity for a 2 story old house 1200 ft2/floor.
Got AC and heat. all electric, even the appliances .

Also miner dont heat their facility in winter, they even need outside air to cool down , so free cooling.

Nordic country with hydro = paradise for miners

- since monday they all increased their prices (sold by newegg),
zotac +20%
asus +10%
evga : +15%
msi : +10%
gigabyte : +0%

So , they make a huge war price for the war between red/green, and most of their commercials were based on that price.
0 stock
Most little consumers (gamers) still waiting for those card.

So they paid their advertisement anyway with those increased prices.


Just like grocery stores making a huge deal on a 0 inventory product, and the week after, after deal is done, shelves are full.

When EVGA established the waiting list (you sign up and receive an email with an 8 hour windows to purchase in-stock) I put my name on September 18th to be notified of the 3080 FTW3 Ultra availability.

I (finally!) got the email yesterday and purchased it immediately - at the prior pricing before the increase AND got a further 5% off using an associate code! I should be getting it this Thursday.

That's the good news.....all of that being said, - apparently there is a very high failure rate for the 3080 & 3090 series cards across ALL vendors, not just EVGA. So disappointing to see this trend...all in all, a very problematic launch for the Nvidia 30XX.

this is why you want to got with a reputable supplier.

Just like AMD R9 280x, they were SUPER problematic, all the batch had major artifact and crash issues.
I had a asus one, and they at first deny the issue. But I sent them at lest 10 reliable article about the issue, no question ask , they sent me a nvidia free of charge.

So, in october it will be 1 year that I've 1st start looking for a GPU.

I was on discord and drops bots from january to march, nothing.

Didn't look at spring and summer time, no need, and I was expecting that it would be available by fall.

So I've opened many chrome tabs today : newegg, memoryexpress, amazon, bestbuy, canadacomputer, ebay.

wtf still fck all, and prices increased again????

Asus 3060ti, from 589$ at launch , now it 759$ cad. !

I understand production problem, demand is high so the prices, but why? their own marketing was based on a fixed low price, and no availability... sucks

While searching I found that you can get in a list, so I went to my local store (website says out of stock) and just like that, on the shelves, a lot (around 20+)

I've been lusting for an RTX 3080 video card for the past year or so but like most everyone else, disappointed in the "Sold Out" notices, high prices and dangers of ending up with a used one when they become available.

So, I decided to get an RTX 3080 that is installed in a reputable computer manufacturer. In my case, I settled on an HP Omen entry level gaming computer. It will arrive with an NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080. I plan to yank the card and install it in my gaming computer. I recently upgraded my computer to an ASUS Hero ROG VII mobo with AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70 GHz, so the RTX 3080 should finish the package pretty well. I will install my older GTX 1080 video card in the new HP Omen and then give that computer to one of my grandkids. Considering the current prices of RTX 3080 cards, I figure I got the rest of the computer for about $300.00.

Just my work-around. Your mileage may vary.

I got lucky back in February, was able to score two 3070 FEs from BestBuy. Took months of trying various methods, the discord channel helped. But also being ready for the drop right before it happens helps.

They were typically on thursday or friday around lunch time, so from 10am, I had it up while working and tried to play closer attn to it when I could, make sure I was on the BB website logged in, etc.
