I’ve run Epoxy in the past, but I damaged it with hot tires and the traction gravel pick up that my winters tracked onto the floor. So it only looked good for a few years. Then I added Swisstrax rib trax and I couldn’t be happier! All the sand/slush from winter goes right through the ribs so always dry on floor. Twice a year I just drag out the tiles in sections of 2 or 3 wide and full length of garage. Drag to driveway and hit with washer. Then squeegee out the floor. Then drag them back in a click together. It’s pretty quick. My tiles are at least 5 years old and looking great! I run mine black and white checker pattern with red boarder. Even the white ones are still looking great but there is minor discolouration on the whites where I park. If I did it again I’d use light grey and black checker pattern.
Only other beef I have is when I drop a small washer or nut and it slips through the ribs. I have a powerful magnet to pull them up. But sometimes I have to pull up a tile with a hook tool to get it (like stainless ones). But it’s not very often and only takes a few seconds to pull up a tile and reach under. I will be doing ribtrax again on any future garage hands down.

Ps. Also ordered new garage doors with side mounted openers. Apparently there is 3 month+ wait to get them installed. Should improve the house look inside and out, current doors are shit

Edit: Ordered floor. Not in a rush to install, still need to level concrete too

Thanks. With covid all construction projects take forever. Home Depot parking lot is all full during weekends, nothing is in stock, wait times for materials are from 2 to 9 months for some. All contractors are super busy. Finishing up house painting and landscaping, hopefully everything will be done by end of May. No more projects after that for a while

Did you have the DIY epoxy or professionally done?
I had my floors done 5 years ago and they still look brand new.
We've also been looking at houses in Arizona in which 8 out of 10 garages that we've looked at are done professionally in epoxy. Again no issues.

I was told they give 10 years warranty on those. But price is nuts. $5-6k for my garage after I fix my foundation. Swisstrax was like $2k or little over and no need to fix anything

I did epoxy 2x. Both sucked. First time DIY tonight I messed up. Issues after 3-4 years. I had it ground off and professionally installed. Great for 4 years. Then it Started lifting. Warranty was 5 years. They blamed the water table - acts of nature never came by never called back past first call back.

I’m going to grind it off and polish it and if it’s no too slippery leave it. Otherwise I’ll porcelain tile it. My garage gets full sun and I don’t want to deal witn buckling

Stupid question - Does anyone have experience with acid-etched and sealed concrete floors for garages? It seems to be preferred over epoxy for durability reasons in barndominium-on-slab construction from my online readings, and there are pictures on the web showing some pretty intricate designs that people have done. Just curious if these floors have similar issues to epoxy as they age.....

Swisstrax looks nice from afar, but looks like shit from close up IMO. Why have all those slats/holes. Also, just seems like a way to bake dirt and debris not only on the surface but below it. And lose stuff. Yes, I know you can lift a square, but really?

It's for drainage. Concrete can absorb water/snow. And it's for ventilation to prevent mold. Mine looks clean and new even after winter and all dirt. Just vacuumed and power washed it. Some crap gets stuck there but it's impossible to see

agree! that's why they are called free flow design. i just vacuum and than pressure wash once or twice a year...easy peasy!
