Dealership 'integrity' question

You need to tell the dealer that you have bought the car, and that you are not ok with it being a test mule. The new 240i is brand new and popular, and their intent is to market it and get people behind the wheel. i personally would not be ok with it, but that's just me. We all have our own tolerances with this.

Sounds like the dealer is showing it to potential buyers and will sell it out from under OP for higher price if they can get it.

God damn if you need a 240i in NJ let me know cause clearly you are serious and my guy sells me at msrp or below. Bought my thundernight 240i from him and literally followed my directions to a tee. No wash no touching and no sit ins.

Hard no, not acceptable behavior. The lowest risk possible to the dealership is to deliver the car as soon as possible. Test drives, show room mushroom stamps, and other can result in damage / diminish customer excitement. Deliver the damn car or walk.

I would have asked for my money right away if the sales or manager tells me this. Do you have the communication in written? Tell bmw of North America!! These dealerships are independently owned and it all depends on who's clown that they put in charge. If you paid for a car, nobody is allowed to touch it. I ordered an M240i without a deposit since I bought cars previously from this dealer, and I will take delivery as soon as it's ready.

Well .. I waited and got 3 more days out of the dealership. They drove it about 40 miles. Picked her up yesterday, it's actually a Xmas gift for my wife. Outstanding car ... the tech makes my 992 look outdated.

I don't know, I'd take a 992 any day of the week over an M240, even an M3. I would've thought the tech in the 992 to be on par at least with the M240 though?

While I'm happy that you got the car, I would still NOT be okay with anyone putting 40 miles on the ODO before I bought it. My M2C had 13 miles on the ODO when I bought it, and I still didn't like that.

Depending on any issues with the ccars, repairs needed, shipping locations, etc it is very easy to see cars with 10-20+ miles leave a plant.
