extra oil cooler

Can someone confirm this? If everything above is included...$2400 seems to be a decent deal.
I think the speed limiter has to do with choosing between runflat and non run flats in general, not the high perf pkg

Garage List
You get slightly larger front calipers in order to fit the larger front disk (still 4-piston though). The rear stays the same.

That is correct. Choosing either "performance" or "high performance" tires in the configurator will unlock option 840: full top speed of 155mph (versus 130mph)

The brake discs are larger according the UK description of the pack. Not sure how that effects the callipers if at all though

That is what I'm thinking, as I believe I've seen the discs mentioned, but never calipers. Weird that they are visually larger in some cases.

But would larger discs do anything with the same size calipers and pads? Maybe calipers are part of the package.

I talked with 3 different dealerships and code 840 is only applied with the High performance tire package. There was another thread where people that ordered high performance non run flats did not have code 840. So unless things changed since March

Nope. I ordered the performance non run flats (no high perf cooling package) and option 840 was automatically added to my build.

You seriously trust dealers? My dealer did not know themselves, it was just added automatically when they submitted the order

Edit: placed my order late March, accepted early April

Second edit: I think I recall it was a mistake on BMW's side? Where at first the code was not added when it should have been and was recently corrected?

Ordered my car with perf non-rft in Dec and it went into production in Jan.
My car always had the 840 high speed calibration since the order was placed.

Again, with a 378mm Rotor ofc you will have a larger caliper (same 4 piston) vs the standard 348mm disc. It's the same on the F30 M Performance brakes. Larger 4 piston caliper to accommodate the 370mm disc in the front..

Thanks all, I added the package. Odd that BMW doesn't point this out, as it's a selling point.

Then you need to talk to someone else, because they don’t know what they’re talking about. You’ll find quite a few people here (including myself, and I took delivery of mine in December) who didn’t pay for this and still got option 840. You just need to option staggered non-runflats, which is no-cost.

Can confirm. I have performance non run-flat tires on my order, but not the high performance tire and cooling package. Code 840 "increased top speed limiter" is on my vehicle inquiry report.

Does anyone else notice that the size of calipers do not appear consistent between cars without the package?

2 cars without the cooling/tire package

14/15mm of difference in radius is pretty significant when it comes to the swept area of the rotor. I would imagine a larger/taller and potentially "longer" pad would be able to better utilize that larger rotor.

Has anyone in the US recently taken delivery that has the tire/cooling package? If so, can you post a pic of your front calipers? Thanks

I will be getting mine in 2-3 weeks and will post a picture once it’s at the dealership.

I’ve ordered my UK car with the pack and curious to see what it will arrive with. Seems a no brainer at £300 if the brakes are upgraded and extra oil cooler. I think I also saw somewhere the front vents are opened up?

Agreed. If you have any plans on doing a track session, it is beneficial to have increased cooling capacity. I drove my ford focus ST on a track and the coolant, oil and brakes all overheated after 3 laps. Even without tracking the car, it’s nice to have piece of mind that your temperatures will be more stable in various driving conditions.

I may be an outlier, however they messed up my order and I had originally ordered high performance non run flats with increased top speed limiter. However, it was delivered with performance run flats but maintained 840 increased top speed limiter.

Per the order guide no-charge wheel/tire options 1PW, 1T0, 1VW, 1VX, and 1VY will all add 840 (increased top speed limiter) to the build. Again, you do *not* have to pay for the high performance wheel package to get this (although they get it as well). It's a zero-cost option as long as you order a supported wheel/tire combo. Sounds like you have one of the supported options.

The only performance tire option that doesn't add 840 is 1PP; that looks like a screwup to me. Not sure if BMW ever fixed that. The guide PDF here is older and probably a little out of date.

Good call, That makes way more sense
