JB4 is still a decent option, but only has 2 parameters.

Carbahn seems to be the only one with a matching warranty option (for an additional $750). Their 93 dyno is likely very close to what the Dinan one would probably be in #5 mode or so.

Wish the DME was unlocked for flash tunes as those are generally the best options (and as Dinan noted they would offer warranty matches with those).

Dinan haven't specified what they're doing with the 3rd Parameter (Cam sensor) - it could be a genius way of adjusting intake/exhaust timing or it could be doing absolutely nothing at all.

The lack of detail around PSI per map, etc is also an odd omission when others such as JB4 are very specific about such parameters.

Yet. Hopefully the encryption breakthrough happens sooner rather then later but it will happen at some point -- always does.

I thought I answered this in earlier in the thread but I guess it must have been in a different forum or something. Each map is ~0.4 PSI so going from Map 7 down to 5 is a little bit less then a pound of boost which would equate to ~10-12 HP lower. Oversimplifying a bit here but that gets you pretty close at least.

Ships in map 5 simply because that is the highest map you would want to run if you are a 91 octane area. Simply allows for the least amount of problems out of the box without tinkering from the varying max fuel grades around. However if you have access to 93 then you will likely run map 7 24/7.

PSI answered in the previous post. In regards to the sensors -- I'm not a calibrator so couldnt say exactly what is happening when/where but each sensor generally tweaks the following: MAF - Fueling/AFR, TMAP - Boost, Camshaft - Timing.

Does purchasing this through a Dinan authorized dealer allow the car to be serviced as usual without voiding anything? If so I can't think of many drawbacks.

That's what I was assuming. I checked Dinan's website and they still list authorized dealers.

Yeah but that list isn't updated. It hasn't been in a while cause I called a few BMW dealers and they all said they weren't giving out matching warranties for Dinan products anymore.

Just wanted to circle back on this and let you all know I got this tune and put it on my car this past weekend. I haven't had a chance to drive it a ton yet but so far my butt dyno is feeling some extra power throughout the rev range. It's not like a huge difference but i did have a jb+ on my car before installing this. The other thing I noticed is it seems the throttle is slightly more responsive and I'm not noticing that moment of hesitation starting off in first gear like I used to before putting this on.

I would like to turn it up to stage 6 but unfortunately very few stations in Denver sell 93 octane gas.

Not sure how up to date this site is, but it shows a few spots in Denver for 93: https://find93.com/

Anyone know if this would affect a lease? I like having a new car every couple of years and so I'm getting a lease on the m240, to use as a daily and to track 3-4x year before returning the lease at the end of 3 years. Would this affect the return process? I know with Audi, if you had a tune and it was detected and your car was flagged it would affect the lease upon return. However, if you remove the tune at the end of the lease then turn it in, it was no problem. Essentially, they wanted you to return the car the way they gave it to you. Does BMW do the same?

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately all of these places are pretty far from where I live so i don't feel they are worth the drive to get the higher octane gas. 😞

Man, I personally wouldn't mess with a leased car to tune or track but that is just me. You are basically renting the car for the 3 years of the term so if something happens they can find ways to hold you responsible. I am sure within the contract they have some writing that protects them in case it is returned different than stock.
