Most of the above comments are true. G80 driver could have done better. But the 240 could have too. We’ve had a 2.98 0-60 out of this car. It’s nuts.

Either way, both impressive cars. But I think it just puts into context what a great little package the M240i is for the money, rather than saying the G8x is bad. Both can be good,

Exactly. The G80 M3 owner not only was an older guy with a slower reaction time but he also obviously wasn't using launch control which was evident in each drag race clip. Cool video though...

I'm all seriousness Jack was a better driver on the day and his car is a weapon, I had slow reaction times and also couldn't launch the car….nope it's not because I'm old it was being a knob and it just didn't go well for me on the day…props to Jack and I'm ready for payback 🔥

I'm a fan of almost all BMWs, as others have mentioned both cars a quick in a straight line.

My old 340i was quick at traffic lights after a few modifications. My friend had an M2, we headed over to the Peak District and it was impossible to keep up with.

Yes m-lites and m cars are fast in a straight line, but country roads or track they are light years away.

Full M cars are different, not for everyone especially their ride. But straight line speed shouldn't be the measuring stick. It's everything, the heritage, the noise (lack of now in eu) and the feeling.

Great video. Any content on either car, is good content. Congrats to AUTOID for tuning a fast car. Thanks to the BMW/Poopra, the B58 is miles ahead of the S58 in the tuning department. I'm not sure if the M3 was using launch control for either of the launches. Did you get the flags, and preparing to launch?

The car makes you wait a little before re-engaging the launch control for a second launch, and I'm sure it's just based on heat in the clutches. I've used the launch control in my G82 X back to back, but I didn't run a complete 1/4 mile. I don't blame either driver for not using launch control, since you only get 100 launches, anyway, before the car won't ever go into the secret launch mode, ever again, unless that can be tuned out.

As for the manual trans comment, not sure what video you're watching, boss? It's a Competition, and the UK doesn't even get the manual trans car.

As for pricing? I can't believe how much this car costs in other countries. I have every option, except the carbon buckets, I even have the M Drivers Package which bumps the top limiter to 180mph, and my car is "equivalent" to £87,980, which is $108,000 US. £108,000 is $132,575 US. That's just crazy money. Your car is £19,550 more than it is in the US. Plus the cost of the seats. But the M Drivers package is £2,077, unless you have that as well? Plus individual paint $4,500 US. My Dravit was half that at $1,950.

PS, is that Java Green with matte PPF?

Nicely done guys! And regardless of what, the G80 'should' behave differently as that was the general expectation of most of the audience. But i know how good and responsive the B58 can be namely on my M140i running stage1 with MHD. The car is a pocket rocket and during so many of my drives next to M2's, M3's it stays very much aligned to those cars independently of the road and circumstances. Can be on Autobahn or at the Alps hairpins car it's a weapon. So it would be nice to understand what's the tune running on the M240i. Can you elaborate it Jack?

All those mods and just 117 MPH at 1/4 mile. I would have expected much better numbers after all those mods.

A majority of us drive on flat, straight roads with a limit of 70!!

Ooooooh. But it we had the autobahn or hairpin turns in the alps, we'd show those m lite cars!

I just couldn't get it to launch due to not being up to the temperature it needs to be due to waiting for other cars to race.

The engine had been warmed up but still wouldn't engage so I didn't use LC at all unfortunately.

The car is now stage 2 and due to be going in for PI and meth in the next couple of weeks so it's a different animal now but that M240 is quick!

The Java green is individual paint and it's not satin just normal ppf.

With all my respect! I'm not even comparing non M cars to M cars! No way - I can just tell you and that it can depend many factors to distinguish the performance of a non M car to a M car! Older models of M's vs some more recent non M models can struggle in performance regardless highways, hairpins or autobahn is. In what comes more recent models like the F80's or F82's not to mention the G8*'s series it depends of the driver and general circumstances but obviously that a real M has always advantage regardless of what.
