I briefly owned an Audi S4 - supercharged, dual clutch.

The most orgasmic car I've ever owned. I've also had Subaru STIs (2 of them) and WRX (1).

The engine response was instant - it wants to kill you when you touch the throttle. The DSG drove like a manual. The Sound system would get you wet every time. the M340i had nothing on this 10 year old car. Nothing, not even close.

But I drove every inch out of the car, the steering wheel shook like an earthquake when off center (nobody knew why), the drivetrain made metallic clunk sounds when i hammered the throttle.

When i let my wife drive it gently i was following behind - when she took a corner (at granny speeds) to my fascination the back end didn't follow the front end - it slides outside sideways! (my car had the Audi sport rear diff)

But I knew a big bill was coming, sold it for a new baby/fake M

After the delivery date moving around a bunch, then no update. Dealership called today, I get to go pick up the car tomorrow!

I'm excited. Already have the suspension, duckbill spoiler, and first part of the upgraded speakers (the front 6, they are going to release the sub and amps in the next month of two).

Got it rescheduled for a week from Monday for the ceramic coat and window tint.

Now I just need to decide on wheels.

Picked it up this afternoon. Having the STi shifter installed before delivery was a good choice. Trying to not put too many miles on it until it gets ceramic coated a week from Monday. Not bothering with PPF since the car is garage kept and won't be driven that much.

Dealership was great to work with, their in-house financing even beat the best rate offered by PenFed.

I mean, it's an Audi S4, it's not some naturally aspirated supercar (or even M car) or anything... no Audi wants to kill you when you touch the throttle. The S4 arguably wasn't even better than the then-current 3 so you must be very nostalgic to think it's better than a brand new G20. Well, you have a G21 so I can't say anything about that, but I'd assume it's quite similar to a G20 M340i.

Your were either on drugs or your car was broken. No car will slide taking a corner at granny speeds unless she mashes the throttle. None. Even if it did, this isn't a good thing or a sporty thing.

Looks great, just watch out for the RTV in the oil pan .

I think the issue is WAY overblown. There are less than 10 confirmed failures (in the US and Japan) for 8100+ cars sold just in the US. It has a warranty and I don't plan on doing header/tune or anything, so I'm just going to drive it.

Already have the coilovers here, the duckbill, part of the OEM Audio+ upgrade is here (the front 6 speakers and then the sub and amps will be released soon). Then wheels and cat-back and likely won't do much else to it and just enjoy.

I will say after driving the Mazda 3 the last 18 months, I forgot how small these are on the inside. I previously had a '15 BRZ I bought new.

Other than CVT transmissions, what's wrong with Nissans?

I had 3 Infinitis... i35 and G35 sedan with VQ35DE and a G37S 6MT sedan with VQ37VHR. I never had any engine/transmission issues. The biggest only mechanical issue I had with 1 of the cars was a leaking radiator on a 160k+ mile car. Everything else was regular infrequent trouble free maintenance. I never experienced the oil burning that many reported. They didn't have a ton of power but in my eyes they were pretty bullet proof.

PPF on the front bumper, headlights and in front of the rear wheel where that little flourish (replaced the stock PPF). Ceramic coated the entire car, ceramic window tint 80% windshield, 35% all other windows.

It will be getting new wheels soon, I just haven't decided on what ones yet.

Leaning toward the 18x9 ET47 Titan TS-5 or 18x9.5 ET45 Advan RSIII and going with a 245/35 Conti ECS or Yok A601 or Michelin.

Stock is 18.7x5 ET48 (I think?) with a 215/40 Michelin P4 I think.

Ended up going with the Advan's. Taking them to the detailer to get ceramic coated this week. Also ordered tires and a catback exhaust.

Going to let the local subie shop here in town handle the suspension install, catback install and mounting/balancing the tires.

With ET 45 and 245/35 (instead of 255/35) you can get away with it.

If you want a more aggressive offset and/or tire size you can either run more (ie less than optimal) camber to tuck the top of the wheel.

Or you can trim the inside of the rear fender.

I agree, the issue is likely overblown on YT and the forums, but I would absolutely pull the oil pan at around 10K miles and prior to any track or extended hard driving. 10K miles should be enough for most of the excess RTV to dislodge and find it's way to the pickup. Subaru/Toyota will look for excuses to pawn the issue off onto the owners, especially ones that have modified the cars with suspension, higher grip tires, and obviously engine mods. Luckily, the hardest thing about removing the pan is breaking the RTV seal as they are adhered on to the block quite well. Otherwise, it's a very easy task that can be done in the driveway.

If I had one of these excellent sportscars, I sure as hell wouldn't pass on pulling the pan and taking a look in the short term.

I'm actually planning on having the dealer do it when I hit 1000 miles and change the oil. From a lot of the pics I've seen online, it seems more likely it's the timing belt cover RTV vs the oil pan.

I know another guy in Florida paid the dealer to have the pan pulled, then Subaru covered resealing the timing belt cover and oil pan under warranty. And there was a bit of crap in the oil pickup.

I'll probably have them change the transmission and diff fluid as well. It's a really fun car that I plan on keeping, so anything I can do to help it along I plan on doing.

It didn't make my '15 BRZ less fun when I put a full Ground Control setup with 18x9.5 ET38 wheels wrapped in 255/35 Star Specs.
