I drove 3 times after the update. GPS steady af. No sign of drifting so I’m pretty confident it’s finally fixed.

I believe BMW was blaming Apple for the Carplay Nav acting up so not sure if the update would change anything. I've been having this issue for 2 months and it randomly stopped last week when I got close to 1200 miles. Haven't updated anything yet and hopefully the maps stay fixed permanently.

FunnyUsername BMW acknowledged on Twitter that it was working on a software fix for the problem. My CarPlay location was very consistently off before the latest update and has been perfect since the update. I don't think that's coincidence.

I've had luck closing the app on my phone and reopening right away. More common on Waze than google for me. Also 20' Audi S4 not iD8 I believe it's due to an Apple carplay interaction. Not a programmer tho, just a guess.

guys I have updated my 23 230i to latest ID8 version - so far I've had couple rides with Apple Maps navigation - no issues with losing GPS signal or correct position on he map (main screen/cluster). Try updating ID8 to the latest version

I’m having the same issue on my G87 M2. My BMW app says no updates available. The issue only happens via Carplay, and once disconnected from Carplay and operating only via the phone it goes back to normal.

Each model will have different software versions. You're in the G42 forum.

It does suck that BMW has neglected to push an update through to each model, because this issue is extremely annoying and somewhat hazardous

Picked up my G87 end of September, CarPlay map icon drifting in all directions since day one. It does not matter which mapping app, the icon maintains on the correct road and direction for a short while but will eventually drift all over the place. The issue is not present in my 2022 X3 with the same iphone, just the M2.

Unfortunately still getting this issue once every month or so with the latest G42 update (July '23?). It's always just an iDrive restart away from fixing, but half of the time the drift doesn't start until after I'm on the road and it's too late...
