I understand. My dealer confirmed to me the M Driver's Pack removes the sunroof and does not add carbon roof when I placed my order. Leaving only one option - steel. It's really irritating to me I can't have both the M Driver features and sunroof. 😖

I would seriously be skeptical about the steel roof. I would request that the Center SM confirm with their regional BMW rep.

FYI, you are the first known individual here to have solely spec’ed the M Driver’s Pkg.

Ordered the carbon roof. I originally wanted the sunroof (as I enjoy the extra light in the cabin) but upon seeing real life photos of the car with the sunroof, it felt like the car was 'taller' and more 4x4 like... however, I may still flip flop before the order gets finalized

I think this is legit. This is the hack to get a steel roof. $2500 option essentially but also gets you a day of epic fun at the M school

$2500 just to acquire the steel roof and the increased top speed that will never be used would be foolish when an additional hundred dollars gains the CF Roof.

The M Driver’s Package (Performance Center class) discounted via a BMW CCA membership is $1317.50. Without the discount it is $1550. *Note, The M Driver’s Package is not the same class as the One Day M School which is $1775. $1508.75 with the BMW CCA discount.

My 0.02, The steel roof should have been standard with the sunroof and CF roof optional.

I'll check out the ordering guide tomorrow but I haven't seen anything about a steel roof.

Logic would dictate that if the sunroof was removed via the M Driver’s Package it would state “7ME will delete STD or 100% equipment 403” underneath the package. It does not.

Example (green) how the automatic transmission deletes the manual.

Logic would dictate...this problem shouldn't be a problem!

There's a lot of weirdness about this car, the rollout, the press releases, and the choices baked into the car. TBH that's kind of the fun part here.

The situation seems suspect to me. I would prefer confirmation on this before I change my order to have the M Driver Pack.

With the exception of the AW car spotted in Mexico, are there any up-close photos of this car with a moonroof? I want to have a closer look at that plastic piece in between the roof and the pillar that is presumably in body color. It's black with a CF roof, which we have all seen plenty of.

It is the roof trim. Body color unless CF roof. I think it is High gloss shadow color. Same for the antenna cover.

Ah hell, had no idea the sunroof was standard. Crap, I don't want the sunroof and do not want carbon fiber.

You are going to have choose between the 2. In the UK CF is STD w/o any other choice. In Canada we get all 3 options.

Well, crap. I guess I'll have to settle for the CF roof. I guess it goes well with CF interior trim???

Garage List
2023 M2  [8.33]
If I get this car, I will 100% get the carbon roof. I'm hoping that the LCI or CS/L will have the carbon package broken up as I honestly don't want to spend $2500 for the track day. I think the roof looks great. Will anyone notice the weight savings vs the sunroof on a 3800lbs+ car? No, it's a street car first and a track car second. I also like everything else in the carbon package (outside the M-track day) so I voted for that. I honestly think would get a case of FOMO if I didn't get those buckets as well.
Here's to hoping that the LCI gets new interior and exterior color options as well.

I'm getting the CF roof too which will shave roughly ~50lbs of fat off of porky since it deletes the heavy sunroof. Will be getting rid of the ship anchors for wheels this car comes with and replacing them with forged ones to trim off additional unsprung weight. Plan on lowering the ride height with a HAS kit which lowers the entire cars center of gravity. Last on my weight reduction list is a lighter battery. I'm not sure if the G87 comes with an AGM battery with all the cost cutting they've done to this car but if it doesn't, I'll be getting either an AGM or Li-ion battery. None of these alone will make a noticeable difference, but the culmination of them will make a night and day difference on how the car feels and handles not to mention it'll look great too.

If it was just me I'd get the entire carbon package, but I rarely drive alone. My daughter's car seat alone is 30+lbs. Plus my extra 30lbs, etc. The carbon roof looks sweet but isn't worth any extra cost to me. If the seats were a stand-alone option I'd get them because I like to sit as low as possible, they were extremely comfortable when I tested them, and it would give a little more leg room for my other daughter in the back (oh and they look cool, but not a factor worth paying a lot extra for).
