Also have ZTX and am thinking the same way.

Think the bronze would look great on my Barney purple M240ix, but probably anthracite would match the extended shadowline better.

YouTube vids show that just a little upgrade on tire width does wonders for handling and steering feel and dropping maybe 4 pounds a corner can't hurt.

The bronze would look amazing, I'm just not a fan of anthracite on any brand of wheel. It's like it can't make up its mind on what color it wants to be, and constantly looks like a glossy black wheel covered in brake dust.

I think with the Apex wheels you're going to see closer to a 10 lb. drop per corner.

In the 19x9.5 ET25 fitment, the SM-10RS is actually lighter than the vs-5RS although only by a fraction of a pound. The SM-10RS is also a much stiffer wheel so it'll flex less under really heavy loads such as track driving with slicks. Spoke and barrel side clearances with these wheels are identical when it comes to brake clearance.

For this fitment in particular I think the SM-10RS is the higher-performance wheel, but the VS-5RS is my favorite design on the G42. It's a hard choice to make.

Once the group buy ends in a little over a week, how long will it be before the 9.5" fitment for the VS-5RS in Brushed Clear will be ready to ship? I'm pushing the envelope on how long I can run these winter tires!

That fitment is out of stock currently (technically 1 is available) so it should ship out sometime in April once the wheels arrive.

10 pounds a corner is like getting a tune that doesn't screw up your warranty but also improves braking, handling and ride quality.

I ordered a square 19x9 setup in satin bronze.

I went through the gallery, and on most the cars equipped with the VS-5RS in satin bronze the finish was quite subtle, though on some it was much more pronounced. I'm hoping for the subtle finish, otherwise my Thundernight with satin bronze wheels might look like a rolling pimp hat.

That’s really weird!

I have not ordered my summer tires yet, but plan on going with Michelin PS4S, and I’ll do 265/35 instead of 30. I want the extra sidewall.

Strange! I’ve never spoken to them about that tire or that size. My guess is it’s a different Bart, maybe Homer’s son? lol

What fitment issues are you concerned with? I was under the impression everything checked out. And you probably already know this, but the 265/30 will be nearly 1/2” shorter sidewall than a 255/35. That’s really putting that rim close to the asphalt.

My concerns are clearances, weight and getting the widest tire tread width.

When I saw the pics APEX posted with their test fitting and the Falkens, it was just too close for comfort. I realize that's the largest performance 265/35, but the rest are not much better. The PS4S has a 10.7" section width, only 2.5 MM more clearance to the front suspension, I think that's too close. It also weighs 27 lb.

While I'm blown away by the aesthetics of the VS-5RS in Satin Bronze, even more important to me is how much unsprung weight I can shed with the 19.1 lb 9.5x19, the 265/35 claws back some of the saved weight.

However, I did change my order for 3 reasons; 1) I realized the 265/30 was a tiny bit below O.E. load capacity, 2) I (also) suffered a blow out of a very low profile tire years ago and a 3.1" sidewall @42psi seemed too risky, and 3) I believe the car would need to be lowered to look right with the 265/30 3.1" sidewall.

So, I went with a sacrilegious compromise, the 255/35 Mercedes* Pilot Super Sport. The reasons I chose that over the BMW spec PSP4 are because of the weight and tread width.
255/35 BMW* PSP4 26 lbs 9" tread width
255/35 Mercedes* PSS - 24 lbs 9.2" tread width
(There is a 2nd BMW* PSP4 that shows a 25 lb weight, but still the 9" tread width)

With the 255/35 Mercedes* I get wide tire width, maximize unsprung weight savings, a relatively safe sidewall height, easy clearances and compliance with O.E. load capacity.

Our ZTK front fitment of 245/35 with 35mm offset vs 255/35 with 25mm is fine, top is .1" closer to fender well, inner wall is .19" further from the suspension and outer sidewall .59" further out than stock.

The only slight compromise is that the 255/35 ideal rim width is 9" but the range is 8.5-10" so the APEX is fine@ 9.5" and even more with the 9.2" tread width.

All good points, and interesting info on the Mercedes specs.

I’m surprised you’re not going with the 9” for a 255 over the 9.5” if weight is such a priority. Does the bronze not come in 9”?

Also, I think you have your offsets reversed for the ZTK front and backs. I’m running 13mm spacers all-around and that gives my 9.5” rears a 22mm offset, so with the Apex 9.5” (25mm offset) I’m actually gaining 3mm that can come in handy for the 265’s.

The satin bronze in 9" is new, going to the group buy before it goes on the site.

You're correct I not only reversed the offset, I also used the reversed offset to calculate fitment. The correct fitment with the APEX and 255/35 is .1" closer to fender top of tire, .2" closer to suspension and only .2" more poke on the outside (not much, but noticeable).

Yeah, the deeper concavity is the main reason I wanted the 9.5".

I see you're in MD. I drove the M240i to Emmitsburg from North Texas and back a couple weeks ago - 3,500 miles and nearly all backroads. I bought winter tires just for that trip and Maryland ended up having record heat.
