Love LMB! A “heritage color” now. They are going to milk that one for $$ via Individual paint which clearly we are not going to get so long as production is at SLP. Last edited by T_U_D; 03-20-2023 at 10:58 AM.. |

Maybe some additional colors at a later date, but individual paint is not happening for the foreseeable future. They pretty much point a finger to “certain limitations” at SLP. Edit, the impression I got, “We think that the current paint palette is perfect as each color suits the car well and if you do not like them then go purchase something else.” A take it or leave it attitude. Very normal too. Skip to 18 mins, 00 secs to hear their exact answer regarding G87 paint. Last edited by T_U_D; 03-20-2023 at 11:28 AM.. |

"Finally, we touch on potential new exterior colors that will be available for the BMW M2 in the future. BMW has already hinted that they might be adding new paint options to the G87 M2, but apparently that won’t happen through the BMW Individual program." There is also an internal document basically stating such. I mentioned it several weeks ago. Individual paint is not going to happen. We need to move on from that and just hope that they offer two or three additional colors. Last edited by T_U_D; 03-20-2023 at 12:01 PM.. |

I’ve always been curious - for a plant that does support individual paint, what are the additional expenses for BMW to paint a vehicle an individual color? I know nothing about assembly lines, but I assume there is additional prep for an individual paint? Assuming the paint itself doesn’t cost more $, where is the additional cost - or is it all profit?

NGL I priced out an M4 just for the color choices and ventilated seats. It irks me that we can't get the drive recorder on the M2 either. I aint falling for it, but they got me looking!

It is more labor-intensive. ‘B shift’, a second production shift is ramping up now. Production output is of up-most concern at SLP. Individual paint is a low priority. Last edited by T_U_D; 03-20-2023 at 12:30 PM.. |

BMW can't offer everything available on the M3/M4 on the M2, otherwise there would be no market for the M4 - why would someone spend more if the bullet-point features they want can all be had on the lower priced car? I suspect this may be exactly why individual colors are being withheld from the M2. That said, the least they could do, would be to offer more than 5 colors without going Individual.
