Hope to see some back to back comparisons against the Supra and Nissan Z, maybe the Z4 as well. May sound like some unlikely cross shoppers in there but with 3 of the 4 having an I6 and the 4th a strong V6, and 3 of 4 being available with a stick (in theory the Z4 may have it someday, potentially from either the Supra or M2)...
Those two cars are not competitors to the M2. They are dedicated two seat, two door sports cars.

The reason why the M2 is so awesome is that it plays their sport better than them, and still has utility.

I think the reviews will be generally positive since its really the same formula but:
- Thank god it didn't get the huge grills
- Lament of loss of caracter but praise of way more traction/stability
- Tigher back seat / weight/power ratio
- carbon roof/seats
- More compliant ride due to adaptive suspension
- agressive looks

I basically agree, like I said unlikely cross shoppers. I am actually juggling them all as future cars and I'm willing to bet the comparisons will be made. M2 doesn't really have a lot of easy direct competitors but it won't stop the reviewers from coming up with some.

I can't speak for everyone but I was cross shopping M2's with a manual Supra. I was considering a M2, Supra, Used 718 before I picked the M2. 2 door sports cars with a stick. I think it will be interesting to hear reviews on the driving dynamics of the three.

While I appreciate that BMW continues to produce the Z4 which is coming to a final close for the BMW roadster, the price point of one is difficult to grasp given what they are. It takes a special buyer to want a roadster as their only car in a world dominated by SUVs and pickups.

I too find it hard to justify the price of the Z4. There's just so many options for that price.

With anything close to a 97.2" wheelbase & 3.9 sec. 0-60? What?

I wasn't very clear. I didn't mean a direct comparrison. What I mean is, after I built a Z4 M40 I realized I could build an X4 M40 for the same price. I can't psychologically understand how a small roadster costs as much as an SUV. I couldn't pull the trigger on a Z4 knowing I could have an X4 M40 for the same price. One is a lot more useful than the other.

I am selling my M Roadster and my FJ Cruiser for a single car, so the X4 makes sense. But I also want a small nimble sports car. The M2 is just a step more useful than a Z4, and less price, so in the end I can't justify spending so much on the Z4. M2 wins, and I can always get an SUV later.

I don't have stats, but I'd guess most Z4 owners have another car.

Like a 718 Boxster owner, a G29 Z4 is not typically their primary mode of transportation. It is a toy.

Our Z4 M was the general utility vehicle used for daily driving year-round, roof down on -5C days with the sun shining was quite pleasant with heated seats and a powerful heater. Good thing about a convertible is no roof to get in the way:

That is the one thing I am not hopeful for, better braking. In fact I am expecting complaints. We will find out in 5 days.

That would be a massive bummer since the car has the same hardware as the bigger brothers and does weigh a bit less...I'm guessing you drove a well used demo? 😉

Agreed and it is about to get a whole lot worse with the press embargo about to expire.

Seems like a reasonable trade off currently. If I still feel that way this time next week well see.
