I really don't get all the flak for this. Isn't time valuable? Waiting on a product means you have less time to enjoy it. In a capitalistic society everything has value. If someone wants got buy it let them and leave the seller be.

If I had a bunch of money and wanted an M2 and was late to the game I would absolute think it's worth as much as an ADM if the dealer does MSRP.

Disney sells fast pass tickets all day long. This is no different.

The real problem here is people selling something they don't actually own. The allocation belongs to the dealership, and they can do whatever the hell they want with it regardless of whatever transaction occurs between third parties. Anyone going along with it is putting themselves in a position of risk. It's not like this person has legal possession of a vehicle they can sell.

Isn't that the same thing as putting a deposit down?

If you’re putting down a deposit with a dealership, you should be getting a build sheet and invoice signed by the dealership sales manager as proof of contract - plus a receipt. Those are legally enforceable documents.

Yeah so you can sell the allocation spot and have the dealer assign to the new owner. That is exactly what I have done in the past. Also don't forget dealers are asking for deposits without allocation ID in some situations just to be in a list.

That's entirely dependent on the dealership collaborating. So yeah. It's still a risk.

This is 100% how I would approach this as a CA. It is dealership discretion how to handle the allocation. Even BMW NA has little say in how allocations are handled. If you "buy" an allocation from someone it might not work out. You are taking a risk. especially if the dealership finds out you are profitting on an allocation.

Another person tried this last month, claimed that they had the dealer in their pocket, found a buyer for their spot, then the dealer refused to make the sale unless the buyer went in person to complete the purchase, even though doing remote paperwork isn't uncommon or all that difficult.

The earlier allocation seller misrepresented the situation with the dealer, the dealer wasn't as "on board" as seller claimed, and that seller, not that dealer, wasted the time of the person who wanted to buy that spot.

There's no obligation on the dealer to honor a sold allocation or whatever price agreed to in that deal once that buyer isn't the one actually buying the car. The dealer pays all the costs associated with running the franchise including floorplan financing all the cars they purchase from BMW to sell.

If more buyers are looking for the M2 than there are M2's available, the dealer doesn't need to sacrifice their margin to an additional middleman layer, anyone paying for an allocation shouldn't be surprised if the dealer asks for "market price."

Goes same for the buyer when the car arrives. That is the big risk to the dealer, you as the buyer have the right to refuse delivery of the vehicle. The risk is the same all the way around. Correct communication and verification steps should be used before making any purchase. Some states even require the deposit to be given back (CA) to the customer while here in AZ if you refuse delivery for a non manufactured defect they can keep your deposit. Crazy times we live in were ADM (dealer markups) are normal and so few cars on lots to be bought. Heck around here the Kia Telluride was getting 30k over MSRP.... Nutz out there.

A few months ago, I was speaking to a Miami BMW sales representative and he said some vehicles (not specific) in the area are selling for 50K over.

Those vehicles are far and few in between. The days of massive ADMs are nearly over for most "pedestrian" cars.

One of the two that got you, got me after I called him pathetic. Asked to be my friend, liked a few post to lull me into a since of safety and security and then BLAM! unfollowed -2 points. There goes my reputation on an anonymous forum. Guess I’ll never be a cool kid.
