I love all those “much better in every way” and “selling better than ever” statements as a proof that the car is better than before it’s kind of hilarious I believe that this is exactly why people pay $50k + for those old garbage e46s and e90 M3s

He's just identifying as a green m3. I heard identifying as something you're not is all the rage these days.

MDL3 would be the correct abbreviation...

And it's Ford Motor Company's fault, BTW.

Very true. They are a hell of a lot better looking, incredibly faster, both around the track and in a straight line, and most definitely more luxurious inside than M3’s of the past. You do have a valid point.

Yeah, they are "a hell of a lot better looking" to those in this organization:

Well, the sales disagree with your assessment. You’re in the minority. The good news is is most cryers gave it up along time ago. I guess you’re a hold out. No big deal.

I'm more offended by how bland that rear end looks. It looks like a Chrysler 200 from 2015.

I think the lack of competition is also helping drive G80 sales.

I mean Mercedes used to have a really good alternative with a V8 Twin Turbo C63, but now that they bastardized it with a 4-cylinder hybrid abomination there's really no other choice for a fast, fun European 4-door.

We still have the Giulia Quadrifoglio but it's a little long in the tooth now, Audi RS3 is more of an M2 competitor.

I have really grown to like the front of the G8x, it's the side profile that I still don't love. Seems like a great car to go fast in and be comfortable, which definitely caters to the majority of buyers, kudos to BMW for finding a larger audience.

There are a few things-

1) In the first 3 years BMW has produced more G8x's than F8x's in their 3 first 3 years.

2) The cars are selling well for a number of reasons -
There is far less competition than before in this segment.
There is now an AWD M3 which has opened it to a ton of new consumers in poorer weather conditions around the world.
The M3 is now a much more GT, luxo cruiser than it was before and is SIGNIFICANTLY more comfortable than ever before.

All that combined has created an awesome all around car that a ton of people have defaulted to... sadly this has come at the expense of the true enthusiast, the car does not remotely feel like M3s of old. It's far heavier, more insulated and runs on a more pedestrian Zf8 auto as opposed to a DCT... i test drove it and was shocked it was an M car lol... many of the older M car owners have moved on to other lighter platforms.

I dunno why some ppl are so hilariously territorial about monikers. We see this for MTers having FITS if someone says that the DCT is similar; convertible fans going nuts about those w targas saying it's not a real convertible, etc. Who cares what it's called, just look at the product itself and if it has merits or not.

It's a class-action waiting to happen. M3 is trade marked by BMW. You cannot use that license without permission.

You've said this many times but linking sales to support your point is a stretch.

Toyota makes some of the most boring cars in the world but yet... Japan Times: "Toyota Motor said on Thursday that it recorded an all-time high in global sales and production for the year ended March."

Audi selling like hotcakes: "The Audi Group closed the 2022 fiscal year with a record result in a year... Revenue rose 16.4 percent to a record €61.8 billion while operating profit climbed nearly 40 percent to an all-time high of €7.6 billion."

Can't ignore Porsche: "Porsche posted a record sales increase of 18 percent in the first quarter."

Used cars, M cars especially, are hitting record used car prices. People are buying them, driving them for a year, and then selling them at breakeven or even making a small profit. There are exceptions of course but more people are buying cars these days and many brands and models are achieving record sales no matter how they look or drive. The BMW brand was built on it's history backing up it's "Ultimate Driving Machine" slogan. Many people buy BMW for it's brand history - a history that BMW no longer holds to.

Even the fugly G70 model 7 Series Q1 sales doubled from last year. Put a BMW badge on an ugly Hyundai and it will sell. But Hyundai doesn't need it because even they are having record sales every the month!....

Hyundai: "March 2023 will be a month to remember and a great way to finish the quarter with our fifth straight month of record total sales."

And Hyundai can sell even more if they can make them but supply chain shortages continue. In short, sales do not "disagree" with the position that BMW recent designs leave much to be desired. I would argue that if BMW actually makes better looking cars, they'd sell even more. But with sales demand as they are, they don't have to.

Bro out of respect I’m just going to respond and say I’m not reading your post. Nobody cares. We get it. You hate the new G 80. Got it. I was fairly confident this forum weeded out most of the constant whiners about this new model, but you must’ve slipped through. I’m done. Have a blessed day.

When the first model 3's came out, all the Mods of the tesla forums TOLD user's that M3 belong to BMW and that in no way shape or form should model 3's acronym be M3. There are too many casuals and the war has been lost.

You now drive a BMW M3 on the internet and a 3 series when gold diggers ask.

I've never thought the Tesla was an especially nice looking car, but compared to a horrendous G80 it's as if Michelangelo designed the thing.

This is how to tell me you haven't driven an M3 properly at the limit without telling me you haven't driven an M3 properly at the limit.
