I also rarely opened my sunroofs on other cars except sometimes to vent the heat. I park in the garage and chose not to PPF my roof but may eventually part with the $450 I was quoted.
In the same boat. I built an M2 and went back and forth with the CF roof but decided to save the $2600 and left it off the build.

But found a launch car at a dealer and bought it off the showroom floor. Came with the CF roof. Glad it did.

All the time car is not being used it spends parked in a garage so I'm not too worried about sun damage. Or hail damage. As another poster noted I think by the time the CF roof suffered hail damage the rest of the car the glass and sheet metal would be a mess.

And of course, cannot have carbon on the outside without some interior bits on the inside, so here is another $800 for carbon trim...
The carbon seats are also thiner so they leave a bit more room in the back from what I read.

I decided to have my carbon roof PPF’d. The installer gave me a very solid price since I’m already having lots of other work done on the vehicle. It seems like the right investment to make in order to protect the durability and longevity of it.

For a carbon roof, I'd put "looks" under the "con" section. Can't stand that two-tone look. Reminds me of those old hideous vinyl roofs from the '70s-'80s, visually only, of course. On a black G87, maybe it would be OK, since it would blend in, but otherwise I'd go sunroof.

A slick top is so, so much nicer and cleaner looking, visually flowing from the hood all the way to the trunk, although I realize that's not an option on a G87 in the U.S.

Probably irrelevant since they’re discounting the roof based on the other work they’re already doing to the car. Most places will quote $500-700 for it.

I was referring to the car quote. Not to hijack the Roof discussion but I'm scrambling to find a place in the NE. Nevermind, thought you were NE. Sorry Denver.

Ah. My bad. I’m spending around $3500.

That's what I'm having done today and tomorrow, Full roof, sills/rocker panels, full bonnet/hood, A-pillars, full front and front wings/fenders.

I was contemplating just having the roof done in matte, but decided that the CF weave would not be as obvious if I did that, so stuck with glossy.

It’s a pain to get across the border unless you’re a dealer, which is apparently a thing.

This is the roof on my '15 F82 after 51k miles and 9 years next month. Only occasional waxing and garaged. Has held up very well.

As a tech and a track enthusiast, I opted for the carbon roof it’s lighter clears my helmet, and can’t leak like a sunroof with plugged drains after a couple years
