My current F82 is my DD, and this will replace it. Probably not tracking it but will go on BMWCCA events. Here are some pics of an event I went on within the first two weeks of getting my 2015 M4: https://greg-w.smugmug.com/Cars/Mary...Rally/n-KRDL4/

Just get cross bars.

Always an option, but I like it secured inside. Also, no fear of entering the garage with the bike on top by mistake. These are great versatile cars!

Mine is just a daily driver. I have a LC500 garage queen. I also wanted to have another manual car before the automotive industry completely gets rid of them in favor of automatic/hybrid/full electric everything.

Amen to that. I have a 981 Boxster in a 6spd sitting in my garage for that exact reason. NA RWD manuals are becoming a prosecuted breed.

My future M2 will be my April to October car. Will drive rarely during the winter months only when I am in a pinch and the family SUV is being used. Will put on about 4K to 5k miles per year. I am pretty OCD with my current M240i and hopefully I wont get worse with the M2

Mine will be for w/e FUN drives - I work from home so I don’t actually need a car as such so just for drives and enjoyment. During winter other car Defender will be used when my baby will be safely tucked up in the garage

I traded in my daily 135i for this M2 so it's my only car. Just hit over 3k miles on it but I keep it in the garage and don't drive in the rain. I thankfully work 100% remote and use my GF's SUV for everything else. I do plan on doing a cross-country US roadtrip from DC to Cali sometime after August.

I'm just curious, any particular reason? You don't like Michelins in the rain, or some other reason?

Yep. I daily drive in Boston's snow-and-salt hellscape. I rinse the underbody, but other than that, what happens, happens. Hell, I didn't have a garage until last year. Even so, this car has a plausible shot at outliving me, so why worry, I say.

Yeah, I dont need to worry about snow treatments. I am also far enough inland that I am not affected by the ocean/salt air.

Based on my experience with Pirelli and Michelin tires on my Boxster and Continental and Bridgestone tires on my 996 Turbo is the tires are very wide and can hydroplane at even legal highway speeds.

I still drove the Boxster or the Turbo in the rain though. I *had* to drive one or the other when I was working. But it was with some extra trepidation especially after in May of 2008 when my 2008 Cayman S was hit (and eventually totaled) when another driver lost control of her car in the rain and smashed into my Cayman S.

After my Porsche ownership experience was over with and I moved to driving a Dodge Challenger Scat Pack then a Hellcat I had a MINI Cooper JCW as my "daily" driver and didn't drive my Challengers in the rain.

Currently my M2 is paired with another MINI Cooper JCW which is my daily driver.

I'm not about to try to confirm the M2 Michelin tires will hydroplane but given their width I suspect they will. So while the M2 gets used often it doesn't get used in the rain. And even if the tires were immune to hydroplaning given my experience I see no reason to risk the M2 and drive it in the rain if I don't have to.

I actually got the P Zeros on my HEA unit. It's more of a clean preference being in the garage. If I know it's going to rain, then I'll take out the GF's SUV. I will eventually hit rain at some point, but I try to keep it clean in every spot including under the hood and gas cap, which rain gets underneath and takes more time to clean. As others stated, the DC area gets heavy salt in the Winter, and my 135i had the undercoating on it so I didn't worry about it as much. It doesn't inconvenience me too much, and I do try to drive the car in every nice weather possible.

Drove through some thundershowers with standing water on the road in a few places at 110km/h (70mph) or so yesterday, no issues or hint of aqua/hydro planing with the Michelins on our car. The car laid down the power well in the wet, although I’m still keeping to the first phase of break-in as the car is just approaching 1000km on the odometer.
