Agreed. It’s close to my VW DSG in shift quickness, but much more refined, especially driving at slower speeds / stop and go.

I sold my M240ix for my M2. It was a great car, but no regrets on the upgrade. 6MT Gang.

I like how when the 240i was tuned to 460, the M2 still spanked it, meaning, it makes way more than 460 hp. And it what, supposedly weighes more as well?
I can just picture BMW Marketing and Engineering team sitting in a room talking about the car, "How much power does she have?" "Make up ze bullshit." "Now let's eat ze veenershnitzle." I also picture them all living in a quaint German village and having meetings the mountains for some reason.

xDrive, Eventuri intake, Remus exhaust, lowered stiffer suspension for better wheel grip, etc on the AutoID M240 so although entertaining…this was a predictable video even with the JB4 “turned off”.
I am still impressed with the M2 keeping up with the tuned M240 off the line and of course it will pull in the roll with the S58. RWD M240 stock vs stock M2 would’ve been a better comparison, but then the M2 would obviously win the drag and roll so I get why Carwow did this for the entertainment value. Both cars are great in their own segment. |

And there we go! M240i looks better and is the winner FTM! Note, the M2 still makes more BHP than the M240i (without ethanol or race gas) with the box. They’re probably up ~50 whp (from stock) with the intake, exhaust, and box with standard petrol.

BMW certainly underrates the hp for the m2 as much as the m240- the m2 should still have greater bhp.

That’s because it’s not 460 bhp stock, while the m240i with the box is closer to its number (450 bhp). The m2 is closer to 500+ bhp. But yeah the s58 has more potential without replacing internals, turbos, etc. What pisses me off is the fact it’s 35 kg heavier despite only driving its rear wheels. They better trim some fat from the upcoming CS.

This video was a lot of fun and there were a lot of surprised faces and laughs that day. That being said full disclaimer on this video!
Our car has the following performance mods: Eventuri Intake Catless Downpipe Milltek Catback System JB4 Tuning Module Endless Brake Pads MSS HAS Kit Running on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. Now the car was running with the box tuned off in the first run. I would suspect it's running closer to around 390-400hp with the intake, downpipe and exhaust on their own. The box tuned on probably adds another 50-60hp, as Nathan mentioned in the video. Regardless of those numbers, the performance from the M240i is dead impressive and it's still the better daily. The 4WD traction makes that car quicker on road and the ride quality is a lot nice, the suspension is noticeably softer. The M2 is much more dialled in though a feels faster because its much more on its toes and on the edge. Anyway, before I go off on a tangent, it was a fun race.

Lol so you want to compare the manual M2 to the auto m240i? While it might be more fun, it’ll get slaughtered if we’re talking roll/drag racing vs that m240i with the $600 box. One things for sure, only one of these cars looks the business.

^this is money. I think the b58 would be better suited for the manual with two less gears as well. The powerband is wider. I’m hitting 450 ft lbs. (with my box) at only 2,500 rpm (500 ft lbs by 3,500).
