The weight of a copilot. And there is lots of low hanging fruit if you want to reduce weight. Team PhD got their G87 (AT) down to an estimated 3700lb with just basic mods (seat, tires, wheels, battery). (They have since reduced it further.) |

Unfortunately the days of the M2 being the ‘budget M car’ seem a thing of the past. To think a fully kitted M2C was around £50K in the UK and its now just under £80K. Crazy. And the APR on finance has gone from 2-3% to 9% (and rising).

And UK is considered a fine in comparison with countries in Central/Eastern Europe where the base model is now 90-120k Euro..

International currency stuff is weird. In the US, the G87 is a BARGAIN.
Adjusted for inflation, the G87 costs LESS than my (non-M!) E90 did. And $25K less than a Cayman. Last edited by Squidget; 08-13-2023 at 09:21 AM.. |

Yep, if you can’t feel the difference that a shorter wheelbase has on dynamics you probably should not be buying performance cars at all. Even if they were the same price I would pick the G87 over the 82

Back in 2001, I splurged on a BMW 330ci, that non-M e46 was ~$40,000... in today's money about ~$69,000. My M2 order with carbon roof and couple other options costs less and it is a bargain by comparison!

Ugly inside and out - cheesy screen based interior, and ugly boxy bulldog exterior.
I’ve yet to see any “build” (color, wheel combo, exterior mods) that make it look any better. I’m sure Evolve will rice it out with their overpriced products though, so there is that. Can’t deny the performance though, but there are just other cars that don’t come with the high price, cheesy Tesla interior and similar performance. |

You can have fun with any car. I’m open to adopting a new technology and platform. Future M cars will all be electric, wake up grandpa!! If you don’t like that fact then you can keep your 2 series forever. Good luck!

I own a M2C, and no doubt it’s a great car but it’s still a 2 series (or best version of it). Can’t deny that fact !

I’m curious to know which cars you think those are, because from my perspective there are 3 cars in this segment, the M2, the Dark Horse, and the CT4-V blackwing. And I’m being very generous including the caddy since it’s a 4 door but I like it. Everything else is either 2 seater or AWD

Purchased my G82 CompX in late January. Prior to the M4, I had a N54 based E82. While bringing it in for the break in service, the GM gave me the key to his personal G87 and let me turn it loose. IMHO the G87 is far more attractive in person than in photos. Drive wise it’s right smack dab in the middle of my G82 and 135i. Definitely more twitchy and tossable than the M4. For me it solidified my choice, as I was looking more push and the stability that comes with XDrive and a longer wheelbase. The 135i was highly modded and while a blast to drive, it was definitely tail happy. I think it’s fantastic BMW’s M division continues to make cars that suit drivers with different priorities. At the end of the day better is completely subjective based on the buyer’s use case. Enjoy what you drive!

I like evolve products but I take everything they say about newer bmws with a grain of salt. Imran hasn’t met a new bmw he doesn’t like - what’s he going to do? Give his real feelings when each of these new models = $$ after initial R&D is completed? I love the mental gymnastics they come up with. If anyone can find me one evolve video where they are critical of any of the new g series platform cars or any new Bmw for they matter, I’d love to see it.
