You were first in line but didn't receive an allocation to date or did you receive a production number, have your build in and they gave your car to someone else without you knowing? |

I would have been skeptical weeks, or even months, ago if I hadn't received an allocation if I knew I was first in line. I personally would have raised all hell with the dealership (what do you have to lose)...either they could offer compensation (covering the $1k) or moved on to another. In my head. I would always be concerned that they could do it again. |

How did they give your allocation away? Didn't you get a production number as soon as you were told you had gotten an allocation? Never mind I just got caught up on the rest of the thread. Last edited by Angmar; 09-17-2023 at 04:47 PM.. |

If he hasn’t signed any legal and binding paperwork, couldn’t he just walk away? I’ve thought about walking away from mine because I was told a minimum of a year wait, now , in 4 short months the car just arrived at the Brunswick port. I put down a non refundable $1500 deposit and I know I’d lose that , but to be legally bound to buy the car, I wouldnt think that would be the case |

Quick update:
Car is built. Waiting for Transport IIWII Hopefully I get the post survey, since I dont have to worry about retaliation or souring a relationship since I moved to the other side of Cleveland and will use a different dealer for service. Zero clue when I'll take delivery. Frankly, I dont care if it comes until April. It's just going in the garage.

Quick Update:
MyBMW app has updated once again. Seems my car skipped the boat and was transported instantly to port. Apparently it is IN TRANSIT CA said it was landing in Baltimore 10/9 or 10/10 Monday or Tuesday. Should see it by the EoW next week or the following. Excited, but disappointed that it wasn't at PCD and just in time to put it in storage. That reminds me to look into my paperwork to see if I had "FIRST allocation" written into my buyer's order. Hopefully i can get some compensation from being skipped.

Hi, OP. Nearly the same thing happened to me with a large out-of-state dealer. I purchased a car from the dealer previously, and since they are so large, I figured my odds were good. In September 2023, their sales manager admitted, in writing, that they gave my allocation to someone else in February 2023. They promised I'd receive the next allocation they get. Fool me once.
Another out of state dealer told me that I would be first on their list. When I called to ask for the build sheet for sign-off, another salesman told me I was actually second on the list. Fool me twice, I guess. Fortunately, my local dealer had an allocation open and got rid of ADM. My car is now scheduled for production, and I don't have to worry about the logistics of an out-of-state purchase. It worked out in the end, but I'm soured on the dealer experience. |

That's if I can "prove" I was first.
I think I should get much more. $1000 price increase for '24 No PCD experience (what's that worth?) Customer alienation

Honestly just let it go. Sometimes the better customer to that dealership walks in and his business might out rank yours. Sucks for sure, but just enjoy your car and move your service work elsewhere. It's not like you got slammed with a last minute 10K ADM.

Another update:
Checked my Retail Buyers Guide and it states that I have the FIRST allocation. This was signed/initialed by both parties, along with a $1000 deposit, on Feb 15th, 2022. Now, how do I "prove" I didn't get the allocation since I dont have access to their information. Only circumstantial. This dealership received their HEA. A ZB one. I was offered this, declined. They also received another M2, which I was told was a dealer transfer. This car was another ZB. This car was sold to someone out of MO or MN. Thanks to a post on the home page, He gave a shout-out to the same dealer and salesperson. I reached out to them and he confirmed that we have the same dealer and he's been with them for "over a decade." Doing a little more research, he posted and gave a shout-out to the same dealer and salesperson on a G80 delivery in Aug '22. They also took delivery on a X3M in Jan '21 His bio also shows E46, E90, F80, F95, G80. It's clear that WHY i'd get skipped. Like I said, the delay wouldn't have been the end of the world, but losing out on PCD & having to pay an extra $1000 is bothersome. Whadda y'all think? Is this a breach of contract? I can post receipts of all this, but i dont want to call out the forum member, & I dont think this is the forum member's fault

Life is too short to worry about this stuff. I would move on and ask when your car is arriving.

Update:
My car just landed. So excited. Another hiccup. Which is adding to my anger. Was quoted at 6.99%. Seemed highish especially since my regular bank pre-approved me at a little less at 6.8%. They are usually MUCH higher than what I can secure at the dealer. Top or A-tier 800+ credit. So I always get the lowest. I have a local credit union that is a little over 6% I asked for the salesperson to send me over a Purchase Order. They said they do not accept outside financing because, "We aren't selling as many cars." Sounds like a monopoly. I think I have to just capitulate and each shit. I have begun the process to make a dealer complaint with BMW corporate. I told them not to submit it yet because they could pull the deal completely. They were very receptive and empathetic. They are forecasting a Thursday delivery. Then off to PPF

It's better to file a complaint and not waste time and money to litigate. Can't exactly sue for any damage since they didn't charge you any money for the spot in line. Not sure how easy to sue for "emotional damage". |

IDK, not allowing "outside financing" sounds sketchy to me. Like what is coming?"No sir, we don't allow you to pay for the car in full, you must finance"? WTF...
Helping make the case for no dealer sales. Buy direct from manufacturer. Dealer is only service/warranty. World is getting weird. |

I think this financing thing is fairly standard. They don’t want to release the car until funds clear. With an approved loan they can release the car. You can then refi the car immediately without penalty. It’s easier for everyone, hence why they do it.

Maybeeeeeeee..., I think it's for the % mark-up in the rate mostly. Also, if you refi without penalty is it a "new car" rate or "used"?

If the dealer allows for external financing you could walk in on delivery date with a check from your bank/CU. That’s what I did. As far as refinancing, you should be able to do it as soon as the information shows in your account with BMW. Check the loan agreement for any potential fees (I think there were just a few dollars). The new vs old car situation will need to be discussed with your bank/CU. In my situation, they said that as long as the car first owner was me, they would see the car as new for refinancing purposes.
