Just need a plastic trim tool and seats perfectly. I use my new iPhone 15 Pro on it without any issues.
Thanks for the pics! You're not the only one to suggest that car mount, and it's helpful to see it the way you showed!

I don't use it, it's awful. If you're using the phone for carplay/music/navigation, it'll overheat the phone and not charge.

Good to know.

I may lean towards getting a mount that does charging as well, just for the times I need to charge in the car. Not necessarily needing to see the phone or access it while driving as a primary need.

I have this console organizer tray in both BMWs and it works great. $15 on amazon.

Precisely the reason why I optioned without. Why would you use this when you have so many USB ports in the car already? I just toss mine in the cubby attached by USB-A so it charges slowly while I do my hour commute.

I have both a MY23 M240 and G87, both 8ATs. Been using the charging tray in the M240 for over a year (as has the wife) and in the G87...no battery issues whatsoever. It is a slower charge but no complaints from heat or damage. In case it means anything, we have androids.

I recommend the Rennline mount with magnetic charging option if your iPhone supports it. Really solid option.

They don’t list G87, but fits all the same.

In the glovebox, I don't touch it in the car, ever.

Android Auto works great.

I just toss mine in the passenger seat as long as I don't have a passenger... I hate having it in my pocket while I'm sitting, and if I have a passenger it goes in their lap lol. My passengers are either my kids or wife so its what ever, if I have a real passenger it goes into the cup holder pocket.

For short drives my iPhone stays in my shirt pocket. On longer drives I might put it in that area in front of the cup holders. I don't use the wireless charging feature though. I never close the lid that covers that area. In fact I never use the phone in the car. My phone is not even connected to my car.

Family member has some kind of dash center vent holder for her phone in her X4.

I put my phone in the thigh extending bolster on the passenger seat. It fits there nice and snug with a cable to charge it as the center console wireless is like a microwave oven!

I had that issue with my Audi. Had to use a fast charging cord.

Usually in my pocket. Sometimes it's charge it in the car and every time I do, I forget it when I get out.

I do have the fast charging cord as it is the same cord I use at home with wall charger. To me it seems like the usb is not delivering enough amps. The wireless charger is a joke because it is enclosed and heats up the phone like a toaster which eventually stops charging.

Probably need to find a cig lighter port charger for the Samsung super fast charging. But too bad the port and the wiring will be all exposed.

I have this in my 911 because there’s really no place to put a phone or anything else, and no I won’t use those flimsy cup holders.
