Supposedly MDM is similar to MTC settings 4 thru 7 depending on the particular inputs. I keep it in MDM most of the time.

IIRC MDM keeps the safety net on and can still control your brakes and stability control in case the car decides it needs it. the TC slider has all these systems off and simply pulls power according to the level you have set in different wheel spin scenarios. if it is wet or snowy i keep the car in the base setup anyway.

I put my M1 in M Dynamic Mode and I put my M2 on TC #4. That with the manual transmission is perfect!! It allows me to drift and spin the wheels but keeps me in check!! It makes me look like I know what I am doing....

TC setting
Not sure I've got a good handle on this, but I went straight to '5'... then I added the AReeve tune and things got interesting... take 2nd or 3rd under full throttle and the chassis seems to want to dance... but it catches it's self before breaking loose... a little to the left then right, just enough to get your attention... certainly a fun moment but you just keep the steering wheel straight and she figures it out....

Sweet. I'm sure I will get more comfortable soon and order a tuning box for my M2.

On the track I run 3,4, or 5 depending on tire temp. I have gotten pretty sideways on corner exit on 3.

I finally took mine out to autocross a week ago. Temp was in the low 50s. I decided on my first run to see what the car does on M2 default (Sport+ everything with MDM). Boy, I lost my tail after the second set of element and couldn't save it and spun out. The throttle at sport+ was way to punchy and I just couldn't handle it.
I autocross-ed for years on a stock F22 228xi but this car is just soooo much more power. I had to turn DSC back on to understand the power better. After tires warmed up, I was able to get a good time with MDM. I decided that throttle on Comfort had a more linear curve and eliminated the touchy-ness. I have to say the stability control and the suspension is real real good. So glad that there is sooo much more car for me to learn in the M2. |
