As the wise people say on this forum, "buy once, cry once" and just buy the OEM ones.
I don't recommend these CF overlay with ABS style covers. They are usually very poor quality with bad fitment. The ABS gloss black ones are typically much better.

IF you see CF mirror covers on aliexpress going for 75-100 ish USD, you can be sure they are ABS units. the clear coat quality is usually terrible too, and the weave will start warping in a year or so.

Likewise. I am returning these. They clearly tried to take the factory mounting points and then mount them inside a thick shell of fiberglass and carbon fiber on top. Clearly too thick to fit properly, and yet its described as "perfect fitment".

I looked at the Kies one, which I think are around $500 for the set. Those look very similar in construction to the M Performance ones, but for now I am going to stick with the Alpine white shells.

For cheap creation of a mould or die, they probably 3D scanned the BMW part, created the ABS part from that, then laminated a thin layer of carbon fibre on top of the moulded ABS part, before clear coating it. Cheap creation of the tools with that methodology, but not that accurate.

Also, decorative use of carbon fibre on a moulded plastic base is not very durable, as the adhesive or resin used won’t bond to the plastic base very well, as opposed to a full CF part with resin infused through the whole part.

I’ve got a few other carbon fiber parts from Kies and the fitment and quality was real good. I will also be getting the mirror caps from them soon.

I don’t want to spend the $500 on decent mirror caps but considering $400 for the carbon IND badges…

True. I guess if I am spending $500 on an exterior mod it would probably be the painted bottom center piece from IND instead of the awful piano black plastic that is already covered in micro scratches just from a stern look at a little over 700 miles on the car.

Plus it completes the look at the front.
