As much as I hated the 6MT in my old 135i, it had a bunch of low-end torque (especially catless tuned) and shorter gears than the G87 which meant a lot of fun at slower speeds on the street.
The ZF8 would allow me a lot more use of the S58 for 80% of MY uses.
Question remains - will I be bored out of my mind with an auto?
I have a feeling based upon our interactions here and my knack of convincing, you’ll slowly lean into the manual choice

How to make the 6MT excellent:
1. CDV delete immediately (30 min fix)
2. BMS clutch stop (20 min fix)

That right there is fun. Take it to the next level you say?

3. Rogue or Autosolutions SSK (I recommend a custom system by Autosolutions)

You are notchy, have a short clutch with high bite, and no clutch lag and consistent bite point.

How to make auto fun:
1. Buy a manual.

Kidding to all my ZF8 friends no harm intended…

As someone not selling my current car; Just buy the M2. I have an i4 M50 and I'm going complète opposite with the M2. I want manual, don't care about a sunroof, ADAS, etc.

You said finances aren't the issue, so why the question?

+1 if money and space are truly no object just do it. if they are (and take no offense to that, there's a lot of us mere mortals on this forum) then either a) enjoy your PAID OFF camaro and go knock a few items off the honey-do list or b) drive both and decide.
