I don't think the G87 is harsh at all. I would check the suspension to make sure that the shipping blocks that the car came with have been removed, believe it or not, a lot of the time the dealer forgets to remove the blocks and the car becomes completely unbalanced, which sounds exactly as what you described. If you and your wife prefer the ride in the M4 then by all means, get that car, however in my experience, I haven't noticed a huge difference other than the size of the 4 being bigger while driving.

Just to put a bow on this... the dealership found the problem. The M2 that we drove still had the transportation blocks in the suspension LOL. So we were essentially driving on a solid suspension.

It’s amazing how often there are reports of this. These dealers are idiotic for leaving the transport blocks installed. That has to be a PDI checkbox.
