@OP Have you considered doing an M track day? They let us drive the M2/M3/M4 back-to-back at the one I did. That will for sure answer your questions about what one is your favorite.
I felt like I saw lower in the M4 and that it was more stable/planted. The M2 felt "taller", and the rear-end can be kicked out easier, much more so than my RWD M3. Throttle steering is quite easy. It's a way fun ride. I didn't notice the power difference. If I wanted a coupe, I'd probably buy the M4 for its superior interior quality. Coming from several non-M cars with regular leather, I feel the Merino leather in my M3 is significantly more upscale. The M2 also can't be had with full leather. The other thing about the M2 is that BMW doesn't offer an M Carbon exterior kit from the factory. Buying the CF parts afterwards (if that's your thing) really adds up. Charles

If you drive a lot you might miss the bigger gas tank but that's negligible.
