Ok..took me about an hour (because old and have an arthritic back), but here's the "hidden" install. Yes, silly to try to show. I have other pics of the process if anyone is interested (not complicated, but you have to be a pretzel to manage it).

Deciding where to place the module was a bit of a trick, but there's a natural shelf on the right side (I zip tied it to an existing harness and attached a strip of Velcro to the module to stick to the carpet).

This.

I've used a number of throttle boosters in my day from various manufactures. The Dinan unit proved a bit finicky to set up (all the relearning procedures, etc), but it works as intended. One feature I didn't think I'd enjoy (that other booster do not have) is the custom mapping feature--already have one that is super smooth and perfect for highway driving.

I've never had a dealership (Audi, BMW, Ford at least) give me a hard time about a throttle booster. However, I've also never had a problem with one and I always set it to stock when going in for service.

You are the man! Looks great! Wanna guess what I am about to go do?

BroDoze Thanks for shaming me into a more professional install.

Did any of you disconnect the battery during install?

I hope that’s not necessary…

As RG said, to get the extra power and the throttle response change with Race Chip, you need to get the tuner + the XLR

With that said, with the extra power, the car becomes more responsive, so you might not need to adjust the throttle.

i recommend you take it step by step and start with the tuner, then decide on the XLR

I did...no issues, but had to redo some settings. If I had to reinstall in the future for whatever reason, I wouldn't disconnect the battery--just for the sake of the inconvenience.

Just some follow up on the actual unit now that I've used it for a bit.

Pro:

1) The stock maps seem well suited for the car--even the extreme, 200%, setting is streetable. That's not been the case with some other TBs.
2) App interface is responsive.
3) No connection issues
4) Can create custom maps
5) Works well no matter what drive logic setting you're in or which function, i.e., drive or sequential mode--although sequential mode feels better...more predictable...more "fun"

Cons:
1) Can't "save" custom maps. Kinda They save but app doesn't preserve the visual curve...so one can't go back to make adjustments without starting from scratch each time (sent vid example to and corresponded with Dinan on this...they agreed and intimated they'd look into it
2) App has to be connected each time (doesn't auto sense the module)
3) Default screen is the config screen vice the levels screen (meh, not a big deal)
4) Slight (annoying) lag between remotre switch and App, e.g., one may press level 3 on the switch but not see the app update selection for a second or two (meh, not a big deal)

Beyond all that, I now find that the Dinan TB is a part of my daily driving experience. Aside, had my first run-in service with no problems from the dealer...I set the module to level 2 before dropping off.

You have to connect each time you drive the car?

Correct. Not a terrible inconvenience unless you're used to the the way many Bluetooth devices connect automatically once in proximity to whatever they are connecting to. In my experience, however, your last setting remains resident in the module, which can always be changed with the switch (which seems always to stay connected...I just tend to use the app more ). Just need to change my habit

Installed mine last night. Haven’t had any time to play yet. Hopefully tomorrow. The pairing piece and pedal learn was easy. App looks well built.

Gotta get through this break-in.

Wait until you feel the highest included setting. It's hilariously fun. LOL

This was true for me, as well. Although, the reason I initially reached out to Dinan was that the LED sequence colors didn't match the setup instructions.

This was one reason I didn't "stealth" mount the module until I could confirm 1) the module was connected to the app and 2) the switch was connected to the module. Bottomline, everything did "relearn" and I've had no connection problems with the app or switch--both work well.

I use the app as well. Although, if I could find a mounting spot that's both accessible and unobtrusive at the same time, I'd "switch."

I put mine way at the top of the windshield next to the rear view mirror. Oddly I use the switch more than the app! LOL

Played with this yesterday. Wow! lol

Even the 150% tune is a massive adjustment. I tried the others and it is SO ridiculously sensitive, I had to back it down to the 150% increase. May mess more later after I’m fully adjusted to 150%.

RIGHT?! Setting 5 (or 6?) is pretty nuts. Makes the shift from 1 to 2 really tough. LOL Certainly not smooth. I cant imagine that thing with a Racechip, etc or ECU tune.

Something so simple increases the fun factor exponentially.

I had to turn mine back to stock. Even the 1st step above stock is too sensitive for me during break-in, trying to stay below 5k rpm in M2/Sport+ everything. I was an embarrassing bucking bronco twice, taking off gently from stoplights yesterday morning. Once I’m out of break-in and can drive the car with immediately having to intentionally cut throttle all the time, it’s game on. 620 miles to go!
