Welp the peeps have spoken. Guess I will be watching some YouTube videos and buying some supplies.
Any suggestions and brands of items I will need? |

i re-up my ceramic on an annual basis. in the shitty cold months i use a local hand wash place. it comes out OK with minimal microswirling.
in the nice warm months i use carpro products, a pressure washer, foam cannon, and a ryobi battery hand dryer. the results are much better this way, no doubt. as spaceghost said its really up to your personal level of tolerance for imperfections, how much time you can commit, and where you store your car. |

With car care products, just set a budget for what you want to spend. You can go cheap with Chemical Guys and typical walmart brands, you can go midgrade with griots and adams, then you have the more expensive brands like Gyeon, Koch Chemie, etc. I'm sure to each their own on what brand they like to use, if you're handwashing your car, you are already doing better than most drivers out there, present company excluded. I will say a huge benefit to avoiding swirls in your paint would be to use a blower to dry instead of toweling.

In the winter here it is virtually impossible to wash a car outside with few above freezing days and in the summer it is not legal to use soap to wash vehicles on a driveway unless a water recovery system is used to capture all run-off ($500 to $3,000 fine).
Using a car wash with a hand pressure wand is about the only way to avoid a fully automated car wash, but I’ve never had an issue with PPF lift. |

I use Adam’s on both of our cars and very satisfied with the foam cannons and soaps. Their product support is first class as well.
Fortunately, you have a multitude of options. |

2 buckets, dirt guards, meguiars hyper wash(soap for bucket and cannon), micro fiber mitts and towels, hose/ foam cannon are the basics. But as many others have mentioned tons of options. I'd add the vossen / adams wheel cleaner as well and ammo tire cleaner as nice addons.

there's a ton of biodegradable/sewer friendly soaps. boating industry has been using them for years as water capture regulations tighten even in the states for marinas. p&s does some as does turtle for cars. like many in my area i am on well water, which means i am wary of what i allow to run off on my own property. de-icing chemicals are probably 100x worse than whatever is in normal car wash (which is why i only sand my walkways)

I suppose when you live in one of the most polluted states in the US it doesn't really matter. I like the freedom of a clean environment: https://www.numbeo.com/pollution/com...=Houston%2C+TX
