I was there a couple months ago, went on a Saturday, the lines for the "kiddy" rides were very short (10 minutes) so you shouldn't have problems there.

The drive from Disneyland is probably 2 hours max, depending on traffic and how fast you drive.

Let me also add:

Shopping: tons to do in LA area. Lots of malls, mainly outdoors ones. I recommend shopping at the Irvine Spectrum mall in Irvine - it is literally CRAZY there! The stores in that mall stays open ridiculously late - I ate dinner late one night there at at 2 AM during the weekend, the mall was still BUSTLING and the stores were still open. MADNESS!!! Ironically there are also things for your 4 yo there, as there is a ferris wheel and perhaps other fun activities. Most malls here have cinema complexes in them so you can knock down a movie as well if desired.

Sea World is great but in my opinion it gets boring after seeing the animals do their tricks. I personally enjoy the San Diego Zoo more (and it's one of the best zoos in the state). Your kid will enjoy both - your baby's mama will also have fun.

If you are driving, the drive will be a blast granted you take Highway 1 - it travels along the coast and if you depart LA and travel along the coastal highway you will pass through some of the most beautiful places in CA, including the beach cities such as Malibu (home to many many celebrities), Orange County, etc. Some beaches are insane like Newport and Huntington - they are literally jam-packed given our current weather/season. But, of course, I bet all of the beaches don't even come close to what you get at Hawaii. You will be laughing at the white caps we get and our pitiful 3-feet waves.

EDIT: Agreed with the above posters - the fireworks show in the end at night is a MUST-SEE thing! I thought Fantasmic was great! Even if they just shoot fireworks it's quite a wonderful experience as the fireworks are synchronized to nice, classical music.

It all sounds good! I love the beaches so haven't been to the west coast yet. Lived on the east coast for so long and did that so now time to see what all the fuss over Cali is about. We are going to rent a car and drive down to Sea World. I have to take advantage of it while we are there since taking any trip from Hawaii is going to cost no matter where we go. Some reason people here like to go to Vegas. It is probably the cheapest besides Cali that you can fly to. Its like low $400.

We are going to bet there on a Wed and stay till Sat or Sun so I'm hoping that we can avoid all of the crowds unless it is the same everyday.

There are always crowds but by September most kids are going back to school and the vacation season is ending. So what I'm saying is I'm not sure how it will be.

I just remembered that Budweiser is giving military members and family free admission to Seaworld so that is a bonus! Yeah, I think that the zoo will be on the list as well.

well if your looking for cheap there are plenty of motels/inns right across the street from disneyland... if your going w/ children and want that entire disneyland feel w/ the disneyland hotel you might as well go with that because i'm sure they'll find it more appealing... i went with some older teens so we didn't really care where we were staying. btw its gonna be bitching hot so just be prepared for dat heatwaveshit

yea, you can get more than one if you time it right. for example, if your fast pass is for a 10:20-11:20 ride time, at 10:20 you can go get another fast pass. so what we did was get a fast pass, go ride the non-wait rides, right when 10:20 rolled around, go get another fast pass then go use our first fast pass. that way while you are in line and riding the first fast pass ride, you are already waiting for your 2nd one.

just beware, if you get a fast pass that has a 3 to 4 hour ride time, you are pretty much screwed since you can't get anymore during that time.

Haha.. only if you let me stay in hawaii for a week!

Going in september shouldnt be too bad. Esp if you go during the week. Most kids are in class and vacation is over. So, id say thats a good time to go. I used to go for my birthday's and NO one would be there. My bday is November 28th, so it was usually right after the thanksgiving holiday and it would be empty

Not a problem, so when can I pick it up? I have a spare bedroom that you can use. North Shore is 8 miles from my house so a short drive. Thanks for the info!
