what's $$$$? you can find houses from $300k to multi-millions. there are brand new badass townhomes everywhere that are sitting idle. deals to be had on them. but if you want a house, the price range above applies. i just like the area...there's tons of fun things to do and everything is within a couple blocks.

![]() if my job was somewhere uptown i'll buy a house there without thinking with that price you stated. the price for this house now is staggering and hope it'll be worth it. in couple of years. i have already checked again and the price already went up 10K 2 weeks after i signed so i guess its going the right way

In a down market, they are the last things that people want. Of course they look "badass", they are brand new, with the 'coolest looking' construction and materials. This does not make them a good investment, however. Compared to a single family home, they are a much 'riskier' investment, and it better be an up-market when you look to sell it one day, otherwise good luck. At least in the DFW area right now, I'd highly recommend that you stay away from the townhouse/condo market unless you REALLY know what you are getting into and why.

It's a great place. Homes hold their values and appreciate very well there in comparison to the rest of the area. You'll live near Beltline Rd, which has tons of unique restaurants and bars. And it's much cheaper per square foot than homes 2-5 miles south, more in the 'old' Dallas area. Plus the houses, for the most part, are much newer. Most of the houses located north of Northwest Hwy, south of 635 are older homes. Yes, you have to factor in the Tollway cost, because in order to get to Dallas (uptown specifically) you really need to take the Tollway unless you want a detour. It's not too expensive though, and in my opinion, worth it.

It's really sad how overbuilt they are in uptown and around the Galleria area. Hopefully the plan to revamp the latter area will pan out in the next few years. Oh yea, and it's crazy the incentives that they throw at you to purchase a unit. hah

well all these developers tried to go for the people stacked on top of people thing and that lifestyle just isn't very dallas at all. everyone wants a house with a big yard, etc. because that's feasible for anyone in dallas. we've got virtually unlimited growth potential in dallas (hell, all over texas), which is why the cost of living is so low.

NO! definitely don't do that. you'll never be able to sell that thing...or at least it will take you a year to sell it. if you're looking in that area, there are thousands of houses for sale. you'll probably be better off buying a house anyway...more space, etc.
