Audi looked so bad
Not only did they make a lot of mistakes, but their brand new car was 3.5 seconds a lap slower even when it was running at its best. They would probably have been better off sticking with the R10. Peugeot just crushed them |

They were more or less hoping they could stay close enough with 1 car that Peugeot would screw up again. It was their only hope. The R15 is just too slow. They didn't count on the fact that bad luck could also happen to them.

Did they really didn't get the time they needed? Or did they choose not to practice. Maybe I misunderstood but I thought some rules had changed which didn't allow any teams as much time as they would have liked and other opportunities to practice were passed by the decision of the teams themselves.

I think Audi just F**ed up their new car. The Pug has always been faster but had reliability issues. To try and get faster Audi has made a dog of a car that is not only slow but an absolute handful to drive -- how many times did you see a factory R8 or R10 go into the kitty litter?

The 908 brought in a renaissance of closed prototypes when it's been open cockpit cars for years. I hope Peugeot pull a hat trick for the next couple of years to show that their victory wasn't a fluke. Firing their old technical director was a step in the right direction.
I am happy for Pescarolo even though their old 908 crashed out. He finally had a car that could dice it w/ the big boys (aside from 2005). Their livery is very nice too. I am surprised AMR Eastern Europe got 4th place too.

Because the Acura P1 car would have been so slow with those huge front wheels. That car was designed for the ALMS circuits, it wouldn't have been competitive at La Sarthe.
The Aston P1 cars sound so incredible. |
