My friend was going through a divorce and couldn't sleep and was on this as well as other meds because he couldn't sleep. After he woke up a few days in a row with his pistol taken out of the holster and drawer and loaded, he quit taking everything. Doctors, psychiatrists, and commercials have made us believe what we need is meds. |

My dad tried Ambien for about two weeks and would now love to break the chemists face. My mom woke up more than once...he was trying to strangle her one time and then she found him in their bathroom with his scatter gun a few days later. ASLEEP. OP. I can't remember the herb but you brew tea with it and it supposedly acts like Valium on the body/mind. If she snores that loud you may need to brew the whole bottle or box though. I went on a cruise with my younger brother and we shared a big cabin. He snored like a hoopty chainsaw and I thought I was going to have to kill him. |

She snores in the easy chair, on her back, on her side. I don't think I've ever seen her sleep on her face (although sometimes I *MIGHT* have fantasized). She uses a bunch of pillows around her, but now can't sleep without the airlline pillow under her neck, side or back. I don't think she would like, nor drink, valerian root teas before bed. I've tried getting her to rinse her nose with the salt water douche, but she doesn't respond real well to either the treatment or the idea of doing it, even when she insists I do it to my son.
She told me we got new insurance for the new year, a PPO, so maybe we can get that part taken care of. I spent a lot of money on that Temperpedic mattress, and one for my son's room since I knew I'd end up there, hoping I could eliminate the movement in the bed. The few times she's slept in the other room, my son's toes come sneaking thru the covers to make sure somebody is still there I'm not up the whole night, I fall back to sleep. But I'm not rested when I wake if I've been woken 6 times over the night. I found that 1.5 hours sleep interval is pretty close for me, and I try to time my total night to be a multiple of that. |

What about a new mattress? I used to think I was having sleep problems but a new mattress solved the problem. 5 years later, I need a new mattress again!

The mattress causes me no problems unless I have to sleep somewhere else. TemperPedic was the best $2k I ever spent!

I'm in grad school right now so I know what its like to not sleep. I've been working on it though. Between stress, anxiety, and sheer work load when I can actually get into a bed for a straight 8 hours I can barely sleep. So far I have duct taped over EVERY single source of light in my bedroom. My mac, 40" samsung, printer, dell, sub, amplifier, power strips, etc. Every damn little stupid light. Then I went for the blackout shades. The pitch black definitely helps. I can somewhat deal with the noise but unfortunately live next to the highway. Might go with a noise generator. They do wonders. Lastly, dose up on some valarian root (research recommended doses). It is the natural plant which valium is derived from. Supposedly makes you feel warm and fuzzy in side.
