Many things skip across water. Its really not that hard to imagine. Hydrophobic shoes, quick small steps and quickly retracting ones foot before breaking the surface maniscus, etc. I'd say possible.

They are running on something.... look starting at 1:13. you can see a major section of the water's surface deforming as if they were running on "sheets" of something.

After watching it closer, it does seem to be unnatural....

Although their speed is about the same, y do they break water tension so fast at the end when they were running across it at about the same speed?

Also they're RUNNING UPRIGHT. The amount of force you exert onto the ground as a bipedal being while RUNNING meaning all your weight is focused into your foot would not allow you to have buoyancy without some huge surface area, which their shoes cannot support. The reason why the lizard can do it is because one, it's incredibly light, has a huge foot to body ratio and for its size is running incredibly fast. For a human to have the same ratio, we would have to be running at approximately 30-40 mph with feets with a diameter of 4 feet or more

You've made the classic mistake of confusing lack of specific knowledge with lack of intelligence.

if i had to guess i would say its fake. you can tell bc when they run across the water their falling in the water at the same area. Some of the runs it looks as though the runner is almost jumping at the end before he falls in the water. It has to be a advertising stunt to get a lot of buzz for the HI Tech brand. and it seems to be working. great marketing. just my 2 cents.

As long as they keep their weight moving forward, gravity has less of an opportunity to push them through the surface of the water. Therefore, giving the appearance of walking (running) on water.

Anyone out there care to provide a more educated approach? I am merely applying logic.
Its called Surface Tension

I'd like to see Maurice Greene or even Bolt run on the water.

Those concepts were on my high school's 9th grade chemistry curriculum. You're right, though...most people would be like "hurr durr what?".

So your saying its fake...but could be real. Contradicted yourself there.

Seems to me that it would be such a waste of time to make something like that up.

Since they are not being towed across or being pushed, the only lift they can generate is from the shoes stomping on the water. It's gotta be impossible to generate enough to overcome their weight. It's not going to matter if you have water repelling shoes or not, lol.

they did it already, didn't work too well even with gigantic discs on their shoes...For anyone who thinks this is legit, I would have to question your mental capacity

yes things can skim across the top of water, and as it stated above it is a function of weight of the object and the speed of that object. I can tell you, no human can run that fast to maintain forward momentum to over come gravity pulling you downward into the water. I am not going to find all the equations and do the calculation, but if you want to go ahead and do it and prove it to yourself.

However, at this point I believe they have some sort of rig under the water, otherwise, why not go farther out into the lake if they got the technique down.
