Here's how I see it, any of the MB cars with insanely good engines...are WAY too expensive...
C63 AMG is pretty bad ass imho, but not on price point with M3, so in my mind, NOT a competitior...just saying. |

I just built a c63 AMG how I would like it, and it came to $72,850...
I mean come on, a LSD is a $2000 option on the Merc. Built an M3 to compare, came to $61,125 Maybe it's just my poor ass but $10K is kind of a big deal to me |

The M3 is more of a drivers car and the C63 is just pound ur foot to the floor... Watch Top Gear and Fifth Gear this will settle everything...
Have fun....

Interesting debate, but having driven all of them, I would choose the c63 over the M3 sedan... when it comes to the M3 coupe, its a totally different drive, I wouldn't compare them, even though I would take the coupe over the other 2. Just preference.

Having own both BMW an a Merc, I have never seen an official ad from Merc/AMG claiming that their products are going to be an "M3 killer" or M killer. Infact, when the C63 came out they said they wouldn't want another M3 like in the market. Although things I have seen recently is Audi's ads stating how their cars are better than BMW and more exciting than Merc.

Ah yes, Top Gear. And 5th Gear. My encyclopedic source for all things automotive.
Well, I suppose it does settle it for those who have difficulty thinking on their own and prefer entertainment over much else. That I will concede. Quote:

There is no way the M3 is going to get a V6 engine, unless BMW switches from i6 to V6 across the model range, which is highly unlikely. Also, there is no point in developing a new turbocharged 6 when you can simply take an existing V8 and tune it for less boost (which would not only reduce developing costs but also result in less turbo lag and increased long-term durability). Besides, engine standardization has been the recent trend with M cars. Since all other M-cars, with the exception of the upcoming N54-powered M coupe (which is really a 135is rather than a real M car), already come - or soon will come - with a 4.4 V8, it's very likely that the M3 will be powered by a version of that engine as well (albeit a slightly detuned one). Last but not least, BMW has to keep up with the competition. AMG is switching to turbocharged V8, so that's what you'll see in the next C63. The next RS4/RS5 is likely to have a turbocharged or supercharged V8 as well. |

I don't care what MB does. The car in discussion will be another AMG with 500lbs and very strong hp, but it will more than likely not have soul. It'll basically be a German luxury American muscle car.
