Time is inversely proportional to the speed of light. If you can travel at the speed of light, time freezes, according to Einstein's theory. Therefore, if you can travel faster than light, can you go back in time? This is what BayMoWe335 is alluding to I think.

Light is a very fickle thing to understand. So ill explain it the way that Michio Kaku does. So your in a car (something we should all understand) doing 80 MPH. You then pass a car in the right lane doing 65 MPH. Whats the relative speed at which you pass the other car? Its 15 MPH. Easy right? Well lets say youre doing 10^5 m/s in a space ship. And light is passing you. How quickly does the light travel relative to you? The answer is 3x10^8 m/s, which some will recognize as the speed of light. Einsteins theory of relativity states that you cant travel faster than energy, because you cant make any energy that goes faster than light. ^thats a basic version of it. And the point being that light doesnt behave in the way you think it would normally. So basically what im trying to prove is that the speed of light is, in fact, the end all as we know it today. And if this turns out to be true it will change our entire understanding of physics and the universe. But I dont understand why people are bent out of shape over Einstein being wrong about something. Stephen Hawking disproved his theory as to what blackholes do with the stuff they swallow up. Thats what put his name on the public's map as a known physicist. |

Well, Einstein won't be completely wrong. Remember, its only GENERAL theory...... Exceptions apply. |

Hey guys, those of you in the UK will like this. BBC did a special on it and its pretty good
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...peed_of_Light/ I also missed this before Quote:
Search tachyons if you want to know more. String theory also has an explanation that the neutrinos may have jumped into the bulk between brains and then popped back in. Think of Nightcrawler or subspace. Last edited by BrokenVert; 10-21-2011 at 08:31 AM.. |
