Well, on extremely rare occasions there's surf at Shilaoren beach in Qingdao.

growing up in the North East, Surfing was not something I ever got into. Now im to old and fat to take it up... but it sure does look like fun.

I have recently acquired a new perspective of the sport after stumbling upon this awesome flickr account. Im starting to appreciate a skilled photographer alot more also.

what do you have to do when you fall and get taken out by the wave? I've been taken out and kept under water for a long time lol even diving into/under the wave i still get pulled back and flipped around like crazy. I'm an above average swimmer so i haven't died lol sure gets the heart beat up though!

do your best to get under the wave.
if you do get hit by underwater turbulence, stay calm and let it subside. the more you struggle, the more energy and air you will expend.

Its not so much what you do next. Its what you do to prepare for this because no matter how good you are this WILL happen. Lots of cardio. When this does happen land shallow. The reef is usually what does the most damage.
