What will you be using it for? The Vette will most likely be a better drivers car actually. The CLK BS have very numb steering and loves to drift. Merc made a much better BS which is the C63 BS. The steering is much better tuned and the car is a blast on the track. The only one I haven't driven on the track of these three is the vette, but I was very unimpressed with the CLK BS on the track.
That being said, around town and enjoyment of owning...the CLK BS gets my vote for this part. It will hold its value better, more rare (duh!), and the looks are pretty good. I am not into the new vette yet...needs to grow on me. IMOP. |

Vette - no question though I'd wait for year 2 production. Unless you're buying the car for status, I just think the "fun" would wear off pretty quick with the MB - not to mention the fact that it's a 6 year old car! You'd better bank some extra $$ and befriend your local service manager. There's no such thing as a "slightly used" AMG anything. Every single person I have ever know - with no exceptions is on a first name basis with the MB service guys. My friend with an AMG S-class and GL claims the cars auto-drive there.

i have a C7, and it is awesome...first chevy product...after about 6 or 7 m-cars and other assorted bimmers
i would say lease the vette tho....that way u dont have to worry about how much its worth a few years down the road

These are two completely different cars. Do people really cross shop these cars? I guess it all depends on what you want.
I haven't spent anytime in the C7 yet, but if it's like it's C4, C5, and C6 older brothers, the driving characteristics of the C7 will require a pretty deft hand to get out all of the juice so to speak. Vettes are super light sports cars with massive motors that can sometimes get unpredictably squirrely at the limit. These are not cars to f*** around with. Regardless of what euro-fanboys will spout off on the internet, the C7 is a super car in all performance aspects besides price. So if you're into pure performance, skip the Black Series. Also never spent time in the C63 BS, but if it's anything else like it's AMG brothers and sisters (especially the SL63 AMG which I have spent time inside of), it's going to feel very posh inside, and the car will probably draw a few stares from the plastic slut crowd, and fake-it-until-you-make-it wannabees. But any car that weighs two tons isn't going to feel super car nimble. In a straight line, sure, but there are lots of cheaper alternatives to the C63 BS if you're just interested in straight line speed. Also if I'm not mistaken, the C63 I think comes with some 7 speed manu-tronic with "paddle shifters", not a huge fan of that myself. Honestly though the fact that you're cross shopping these two cars shows me that you may need to actually spend time in these cars (or similar cars).

My mistake. I guess that makes it even more of a rout in favor of the C7 in terms of performance since the C63BS is a performance improvement over the CLK63BS.

Seems so, but mostly based on price rather than driving characteristics, which is what you have to live with everyday once you make a purchase.

I've seen a few of the C7's in person and to me they are one of those cars that are much better looking in person than pictures. To me the front end of the CLK is a little dated and I'd be concerned over long term ownership costs (warranty etc.) So I'd lean towards the C7, now if it were a 2012 C63 black series, I'd be going with that, but the price entry point is much higher.

I've never been a big fan of Vette's, but the C7 looks amazing, especially in yellow. From what I've read it seems that GM has really given the Corvette some finesse. The interior is a huge step up from the C6.. I'd go Vette. The CLK63BS would be nice to have as a collector car if you plan on keeping it.

The C63 sedan is a hefty car, sure, but it delivers 100% of the M3's handling prowess on the street and 90% of it on the track (except with better steering feel in both environments). The CLK63 BS was the precursor to the C63 BS and based on how good the current generation is, I'd say the CLK is pretty damn good too.
