having said that, i think you're right, things should slow down a bit once the production picks up. i would feel kind of weird paying over the sticker for an audi though. i think when i get to an audi dealership i'll have a bit of an attitude just because i have the bmw "chip" embedded in my head. we'll see...

also, one interesting fact i didn't think about was that S5 is actually competing with the 6 series, not 335i. that would almost make more sense given the luxury, build-quality and the number of standard options audi offers with the S5.
so, getting a fully loaded S5 for ~$55k is actually a bargain, don't you think?

Yup. The 335 felt a little low budget (no offense, just comparing. I am humbled to have such a nice car) when I got back in it. The dash area on the S5 was huge and very well designed. I thought the seats were some of the best fitting I have sat on. Footie(sp) on here said there is a "chip" coming. That is what I want to pursue. It needs a touch more low end torque for my tastes. I was at the Porsche store by my office and they had painted the inner metal on a set of the sport wheels. It was a gloss black on a white Cayman. It looked sweet and these wheels have that same inner piece (spokes) that could be done the same way for probably 500-800 bucks.

+1 Back on topic.
The Audi event is the BEST free driving events I have gone to. Well planned, well staffed and well equiped. No waiting in line, personal tips from professional drivers, and no scolding looks when you push the cars hard. The only thing they asked is do not ride the clutch. If I don't have a BMW itch to scratch I'd probably buy an Audi or Lexus. They know how to treat their customers. |

it's funny you should mention that because they said they had to replace 2 clutches that day already. i guess people with no experience driving a stick still wanted to be "cool" and took the S5 around the track.
the car i drove had its clutch almost completely burnt out. the 3rd gear was slipping like a mo-fo.

i just remembered, i'm not sure if it was someone from this forum but a guy who had just finished with the event in a space gray E92 335i floored it leaving the parking lot. it was the lamest and inappropriate show of power i've seen.
there were people coming to the event in 911s (2 carreras), hondas, VWs and mercedes and no one got the itch to be a dick but the prick in the 335i. everyone just looked at him and said, typical. people like that give the rest of us a bad reputation. i was just locking up my car so obviously all the eyes turned right to me waiting for some kind of response. i couldn't but shake my head...

I have done one of these Audi days at Silverstone and I remember the instructor saying that on the track the RS4 is torquey enough to leave in third gear and will produce times only slightly less than a lap when you are really going for it. |

Every color on the S5 looks better in person.

yup. i believe wayne cunningham actually reviewed the car and did a podcast but brian always does the video segment. it was raining when they were shooting it so they weren't at the traditional spot.
i'll post a link to the video once it becomes available.

Just like a little kid waiting for his b-day presents, I can't quit thinking about ordering. I am waiting for a black one to hit one of the dealers here so I can look it over before they deliver it.
The silver leather will be nice with the black paint but stains have me wondering. I like white a lot but on this car I see other choices as a better fit for the body lines.
