Magic motion trunk?

Sorry to ask you to look at that back end again, but I can't figure out how the trunk opens without scratching the taillights. What's going on there? Does it have a special swing out hinge? (I never thought I'd ever miss chrome trim before I saw this thing.)

Not sure anyone has already mentioned this but this rectangular rear diffuser makes me so angry!! Why the hell would they design it with such sharp angles!!!

It's not rectangular. You and a few others are blind. If you look closely, it angles under the bumper. The bad picture quality coupled with the diffuser being painted gloss black somewhat obscures the shape.

Great break-down. As a former 911 owner (twice) and current M2C owner, I agree 100 percent. The 911, while a beautiful car in many regards, is just not a good daily.

Yep!….and I'm guilty myself. My 992 is a weekend car simply because I have a commuter Corolla and the 992 was purchased with the sole intention of it being a car that I drive on weekends, special occasions, etc. Lugging around police gear in a 992 would be a pain in the ass.

My son says his 911-T is a wonderful daily (until he gets his allocated Gt3 soon)! Need more hauling? He has a Raptor for that. Need to drive clients around? No problem with the Land Cruiser. Weekend canyon runner? S2000 for that. Wifey & kiddie mobile? Honda Odyssey.
I tried to sell him on an M3 once (which would have been the perfect daily). Unfortunately, the local 'client advisors' were jerks (that's what happens when the only two dealers in your state are owned by the same entity).

Who ever said they were the same? There is some cross over between the two and it entirely depends on how/why you're using your car. 911 is a fine daily for someone who doesn't have kids, or crap roads, any number of other reasons. M2 is a great fun car if you also want or need it to be versatile and you gotta carry stuff.

Both cars can do a lot of things, but neither is a catch-all. No single car is.

Only BMW owners argue that a 911 is not a daily when they sell more of them than BMW sells M2s. The M2 is a good car for what it is, but it’s not a bargin, and it’s not on the same level as a 911 - no one outside of this forum believes it, and I suspect the people who are on this forum don’t either.

And i had to laugh about cheap interior comments - BMW is the king of cheap interiors and cost cuts. Enjoy the M2, and to a lesser extent the Transformer G series M2.
