Either way, who the hell cares? If you care about 0-60, go and buy an EV. My Tesla absolutely spanks my M2 from a dig, but I don’t care. The M2 is a track weapon and I love driving the pants off it.

I used to park my F87 at work in a parking garage right next to a Redeye. Every time I got out of my car I'd look back at the F87 but I'd also cheat on it and look at the Hellcat. It looked so mean and was pretty badass that we were parked one spot from each other. Only saw the owner couple of times, we gave each other the nod of approval.

Depends on what source you “believe” when it comes to M240i XDrive vs M2. Consistent 3.6-3.8 is the norm for the M240i XDrive with launch control on normal unprepped surfaces. The M2 (auto) is about the same, but not consistent. The manual is slightly slower.

The 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile is where the M2 shines.

I can’t even imagine the M2 with XDrive. Monster.

And there it is, the EV appliance gets inserted into the discussion. The discussion wasn't about 0-60, it was about launching rwd car with only ~470 whp. To get that, one would have had to read the origin of said discussion & then understand where 0-60 factored in.

Well, that’s funny because I understood it exactly how he wrote it.

Try to reread what he wrote… You might Interpret it completely differently.

This is what started my journey to BMW, when I saw this little beast in a parking lot. The rest his history and my username is no longer accurate.

But why market it as having more power unless the 3 & 4 are making more power now too?
Will there be any hardware updates? Is this a software tune? Or is this simply reissuing the "correct" numbers?
So many questions.
I read the M3/4 base car is getting over 500.

Why is it that every time BMW raises their M2 pricing, I book a meeting with my line manager to ask for a raise?

Fact check

No, the base M3/4 is not getting over 500hp.
Base M4 (13HK) will continue to be offered with 473hp
To date M3/4C remains unchanged @ 503hp
M3/4CX will get a hp bump from 503hp to 523hp

Addendum to the above post.

Confirmed, MY25 M4C (23HK) remains unchanged.

375kW = 503hp

We live in a crazy world where 500 hp is not enough!

I remember Ford announcing years ago that the Mustang 5.0 would have 224 hp and being over the moon!

But the AWD G80/82 get 525hp? I’m pretty sure the power increase for MY25 was confirmed, but perhaps just for AWD variants.

I am right there with you, back in 1991 I bought a 91 Corvette with 245HP. My friend had a 91 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 with 225HP. We would go to the track almost every Friday night and run them down the track. I had to pull out the picture from the archives racing my 91 Corvette at Maryland International Raceway.

It does seem a bit strange that BMW would market the car as having more power when it's actually similar to the base G80/82 models. It's possible that there might be some software tuning or reissuing of numbers going on. As for hardware updates, it's hard to say without more info.
I totally agree, there are definitely a lot of questions surrounding this. It'll be interesting to see if BMW addresses these concerns.
do you think BMW will have any other updates to the G80/82 models this year?
It's just a remapping of the engine tune, no updates to hardware. We know for certain the base M4 will not be making any more hp and the base M3 should also stay the same. It'll still have 473hp as before, it's the torque figures we don't have yet. Wouldn't make much sense to give the lower model M2 more torque than the base M3/4 so the odds are they will get a bump too. To answer your last question, see here.
