The manifest showed there were 498 electric vehicles and hybrids and a total of 3,784 vehicles including some heavy equipment in addition to cars."

From a NON-EV oriented website:

https://maritime-executive.com/artic...mantle-highway

The final report is pending. There will be real EV fires but probably ought to focus on accuracy.
Yeah but then you read reports like below, which state the burned decks had no EVs.

Quote:
"Even though the cause of the fire is still unknown, the EV theory no longer holds up after the freighter was inspected. The lower four of the twelve decks are essentially undamaged, and about 1,000 cars, including the 498 electric ones, are in good condition. This is according to the chief of salvage company Royal Boskalis Westminster NV, Peter Berdowski.

According to the head of the salvage company, the four uppermost decks, on which there were no electric cars, are so damaged that it is hard to walk on them and that the vehicles there (again, no EVs!) are literally fused to the ground."
But in this picture there is a large group of burned Porsches, including many 911's and clearly a Taycan in upper left hand of picture.

Not saying this is a smoking gun, but when you have investigators that can't distinguish a Taycan from other ICE vehicles...that is problem.

We will see. I think the final report will not implicate EVs as the source.

Very well could. But do EVs present a problem for extinguishing the fire? An ICE vehicle fire takes about 500-1,000 gallons of water to put out. BEV fires take up to 20,000-40,000 gallons of water. Some have been reported 60,000+ gallons. They like to reignite as well quite often. This seems like a recipe for disaster in a confined space, stacked with many vehicles. Regardless of what starts the fire. ICE cars are shipped with little to no fuel in tanks to mitigate fire spreading.

Been argued many times. Just wanted to correct specific erroneous reports.

He basically received a recall for the car from P-car hq in Reading? like quite a few before, but this one is for the battery pack if it may be leaking water into it which may cause a fire.
He's discussing with the car seller that if the battery pack had to be replaced then it would be around £40k and the car seller says for what its worth now that it may even be considered a write off
He also had no idea if it was replaced what would happen with the faulty one.

This guy has had the backside ripped out due to being a private buyer who bought a porsche new and thought values would hold up. Because it was an ev the value has dropped considerably like 50% so he is in negative equity and probably needs revenue from his channel to keep afloat.
He's also one who has tasted the forbidden fruit and waxes eloquently about the benefits of an EV drivetrain while pointing out its financial and charging related drawbacks which many ev owners dint admit to.
There is clickbaitery but also honesty so I like his videos. Some are toooooo long that's the only complaint..

Based on his eating habits I would suggest keeping up with his last few videos before atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease culls him.

It's the stress from the EV that killed him.. no doubt.

I'd simply advise him to pre-pack sandwiches with cold drinks at home beforehand all in a cooler bag and a thermos of tea. He'd save a packet keeping himself out of the 'greasy spoon' menu motorway caf's
