Well for one, the large multi spoke wheels look like ones that seem to generally come on the competition models, so that's kind of a give away right there in my eyes. Could it be a regular M2 with comp wheels? Sure I guess. But probably not.

I like the wheels. I wonder if they are lighter than my 788m's and if they would fit?

Oh yeah probably same concept. Lower powered version gets manual. Higher powered torque converter only.
I wish the G87 could just remain simple like the 1M and F87 M2 were. Too much complication = a heavier and less focused car. M2 customers tend to be very pure enthusiast types, let the M3/4 appease the pseudo-enthusiasts. Edit: that's not a knock on the M3/4 or the people here who own them. Just that model inherently attracts more badge types than the M2 does.

Sadly they won't; the G series have a different bolt pattern than the F cars.

My biggest disappointment with the new 2 series is the taillights and I initially assumed the G87 would inherit the identical taillights and the trunk from G42. However, after carefully looking into the spy shots, I see that the taillight design and the trunk line on the G87 are different compared to G42. Looks like G87 might have the 2-piece taillight design with a different trunk line around the taillights. Not sure if this has been mentioned before and it might be a stupid theory based on a car that is covered in camo but maybe there is still some hope

I was really hoping that the leaked bumper was not true, as I thought it looked too squared off and doesn't flow with the rest of the car. I'm really hoping that the actual version looks better somehow!
