On PPF, I want full but can't justify the cost at the moment. So no PPF at the moment for me. Potentially once I sell the 3 series. Forgot to add here - I got the BMW paint protection that they provide as a service but tbh I have no idea how good that is. Last edited by Ctothej; 08-05-2023 at 08:51 PM.. |

Mine has full PPF, but that's because I will do a lot of driving, including interstate trips.

I’d be eager to hear what people are paying for PPF in Sydney. Thinking of doing track style PPF and then ceramic coating - front bar, side skirts, behind rear wheels etc. No track work expected at all but keen for the extra protection / ease of clean.

Squadra Bespoke. They did a good install, although because of the complexity of the front and rear bumpers there are some slight gaps where the template has cuts and joins, but not in any areas that I'd seriously worry about.
Overall I'm happy with it and thought it was reasonably priced. |

Great to hear Lex!
Doubt she is on the same boat though, the ship I’m on is halfway between Panama and Auckland. |

After the OG M2 for 4.5 years and now the Comp for 2 I wanted to get the G87 but no sunroof is a deal breaker for me.
Can’t believe it is not an option when it is in the US and UK. |

I've learnt the hardway through 8 BMWs ownerships from different dealers and the BMW club feedback... The BMW paint protect isn't very good. Generally outsourced to someone who views it as a quick easy flip job and 3-4x the price of going direct. If they do it in the dealership it's even worse, amateut detailer with 50 other cars to get through will do a slap dash job. These guys can literally do more harm then good to the paint. Swirls, scratches, high spots, missed panels, over polished edges, all very very common. Better to use a professional or even DIY unfortunately. Same applies for BMW dealer window Tint or ppf. 4x the cost of a pro, 1/2 the result. |

Evening everyone, Long time follower first time poster. I have ordered the G87 M2 in Black Sapphire with the Black wheels goes into production on 11 September, the wait is killing me! I was just wondering from your combined experiences what is the average ship time from when its finished on the production line to arriving in Australia? The dealership has informed me January 2024 but from the looks on the forum it can be sooner if you're lucky enough to get on a ship soon after production. Look forward to reading the responses!

Mine managed to get on a ship 04.08 and was built 27.03 Yes you are reading that correctly. That should give you some indication! Should be in my hands in late September/early October. |

Hi Andy and nice choice for your order.
Mate, I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but at this point I don't believe an Australian owner, active on this forum, has actually received the car they ordered. And, this is true for people who placed their orders at the earliest opportunity. A couple of owners, frustrated by wait times, abandoned their orders to take delivery of cars that had made it to Oz. Right at this very moment two ships carrying "ordered" M2's are en-route to Australia. One is just about to leave Turkey and will no doubt head here via the Suez. The other is heading here via the sensible route, across the Pacific via the Panama. So, to answer your question, no "average ship" time exists. All I can say is I hope you get your car a lot quicker than all of us did. Good luck, I'm sure it will be worth it. |

GYRKIN GT summed it up well. To put it in perspective, for me: Deposit and EOI placed Jan-21, order placed 2 days after pricing released in Oct-22, car wasn't built until late May-23 - currently code 193 ("waiting for ship") however likely hasn't been updated by BMW Global and is currently on the ship Gyrkin GT mentioned which just docked in Turkey... What frustrates me the most is, why on earth are there a number of us who ordered so early off and the back of EOIs placed 12 months before that, are still waiting for our ordered cars when there's a bunch which have arrived and being sold by dealers. I have say, its perplexing.

EOI: May 22
Order confirmed: Oct 22 Initial Prod date: 26 Feb 23 Revised Prod date: 8 May 23 Shipped: July 23 Arriving: 18 Aug 23 Expecting a further 3-4 weeks to clear at the ports. But, as with a couple of others, secured an alternative allocation (same specs) and picked the car up on 4th August 2023. Loving every minute of it and it feels easier to drive than my 3 series, but I haven't figured out why yet. Maybe the shorter wheel base? |

As with others, EOI April 2022,
Order confirmed in Oct 2022 (day they opened orders ) Build originally scheduled for feb 23, actually built April 21st. Not sure exactly when it got on a boat but around early June- it actually went on two, via the US, and is currently getting unloaded in Melbourne. I’m in Tassie so, expect 2-3 more weeks before it gets here due to congestion at the ports, although in the past that wait has been only about 1 week. Figure if I’m lucky, I *might* see it this month, otherwise early September. |

Sounds like there is a few good news stories there! Especially with Grace that's an amazing turn around time. It honestly just looks like luck of the draw whether you get a ship or not. Again thanks for all the responses.

Was at south Yarra bmw a couple weeks back and they had a BG with CF seats available in the basement. Decided to wait for my original order with non CF seats as mines going to be a daily drive. (Ordered 12/22, expected arrival 9/23)
Fell in love with the F87 after driving through the alps in Germany (actually available from Sixt!). First BMW, so really looking forward to the new journey! |
