That's pretty much what I was expecting, and perfectly stated.

And just to clarify, the reason I specifically said especially with Xdrive is for those times you wanna dust some poor soul in a dig lol. I’m sure the RWD G42 M240 more than handles its own in a roll.

This weekend (which start tomorrow for me) I will be installing the Racechip, removing the M240i badge and screwing on the new valve caps.

A roll is where the G87 really shines. The only problem with that is crazy speeds are reached pretty quick. The occasional dig from a light, up to about 50-60 mph, is what I prefer. This is where the xDrive can embarrass cars it shouldn't.

Throttle House just released a video of a dig and a roll with the new M2, which got completely destroyed by a Cayman GTS 4.0 and a tuned Golf R. But in the roll the tables got reversed. The M2 really likes to live in the upper RPMs. I'm curious if a tune will bring the torque curve downward, or if it'll just make the top end that much crazier?

Yeah, the M2 content from Throttle House has been a pretty spicy topic of conversation on the G87 board. Thomas has said multiple times (just like he said in this video) that the G87 is “objectively” a better car than the F87, he just can’t get over the looks and driving feel. Some of the posters in the G87 forum swear TH just wants to make the G87 look bad because Thomas owns an OG M2 but I wouldn’t go that far.

It is interesting that in the 2 videos where they raced the M2 against the RS3 and then the Cayman GTS and modded Golf R, he was struggling big time to get traction with the M2 and it has Cup 2s. Both digs you can see he was constantly spinning wheels almost the entire race which is odd because even though the Golf R is AWD and you would expect it to hook better, the Cayman had absolutely no issues with traction. Plus I’ve seen countless other videos of drivers launching the M2 and none of them struggled as much as Thomas did. He owns an OG and is very familiar with BMWs so I would assume he knows how to dial in the settings but who knows. It did destroy the RS3, Golf R and the Cayman in the roll though lol.

What’s funny is Thomas says he doesn’t like the car but he looks pretty excited when driving it around the track lol.

There could certainly be some non-ownership envy going on there. But then again, I would think he could easily afford the new M2 if that's what he wanted. Conspiracy theories abound...

Man, if only they made an xDrive versoin of the new M2. I know they said they weren't going to do it, but an M2 Comp xDrive would be B A N A N A S.

Your best bet might be the CS when it comes out. Looks like automatic will be the only option but someone in the comments asked Horatiu if AWD will be available and he said yes.

The original surround on the right was a bit trickier to remove than the left one. Not difficult, just awkward due to the two Torx screws being tight and covered by the rear diffuser / bumper.

They fit fine. Plenty of scope to move them in all directions.
I put the right one on, adjusted it fore /aft to align with the rear valance then hand tightened the threaded inserts on both the left and right sides of the tip simultaneously until they bit. If you do one insert then the other, the tip will move over to one side. I then nipped up all 4 inserts and tightened the 14mm locknuts. Repeat on the left side.

The left top insert will be hard if not impossible to turn as the heat-shield is directly above it. I adjusted the top insert to protrude 2-3mm into the inside of the top so I didn’t have to tighten it once in place.

Whole job took may be 30 mins.

Decided to go a bit further and swap out the BMW roundel badges on the steering wheel, wheels, bonnet and boot for black and white versions and I also replaced the STOP/START button with a red version.

I’d love to see some pics of the hood and trunk badges. Do they just pry off with some TLC? Think I saw that the trunk is glued on and the hood has two posts that press into the hood? I’m thinking of doing this to my car.

Today must be the roundel day, I also swapped out both BMW roundels today. These are from IND and the are OEM with the outer ring painted black. A little more sinister for my black car as well😈 Easy to replace; just heat up the area with a heat gun, and at first I used fish line but it wasn’t getting under it. So used a pry too to help lift and from there a combo of the tool and line got them removed. Cleaned with goo gone and wiped with alcohol pad. Then just popped the new ones right on ( they came with sticky already) and a good 30 sec press. Viola!

As was stated, heat gun and I used a plastic pry tool. If you use a pry tool place some painters tape down to protect the paint. The rear used posts (I added 3M Auto Tape) and the front was just 3M tape.

The job was easy and suspect it was due to the fact my car is only 2 months old and the tape hadn't fully cured.

Removing the M240i badge was a bitch. Lots of Goo-Be-Gone to get the residual tape off.

Good info, thanks. I’ve read that the 240 badge requires some elbow grease to prep the area for the new badge. I might tackle that one too.
