I got lucky with an allocation that was about to enter into production. Production was actually scheduled for may 28 and bumped up.

Hey y'all, got my first BMW on order, a thundernight over cognac M240i RWD. Process is moving pretty quickly so far. Hoping the rest goes this smoothly. Here's my timeline so far:

Order placed with the dealer: 5/8/24
Order accepted: 5/8/24
Scheduled for production: 5/13 also for build week 23 (June 3rd)

From the Chrome extension store you can download 'BMW MyGarage Chrome Trick'. Basically when you click that extension when in My Garage it gives you more information that what is normally visible on the screen.

It doesn't tell you much more than the standard track my car. The only difference is you see the status # (and production date) vs only the status description. It's not like you get some secret status or update with the extension, at least from what I saw. It told me nothing different. If you're in one of the interim statuses that is not one of the check points in "track status" you may learn something new. Only you know if that's valuable to you.

First image is the standard "track status", second image is the chrome extension. Third image are the various codes & meanings.

I’ve been in status 160 Released for Distribution since 04/08! From what I understand, that means the car hasn’t even been scheduled for a port of departure yet, let alone a boat.
Anybody else have this situation?

Not sure of the exact status, but my M2 went into production on 3/4 and finished quality check on 3/19, then didn’t hit ready for transport until 4/20. Finally got on a boat on 5/8. There were definitely some major delays in there that others didn’t seem to hit.

A lot of people, myself included, were stuck on Final Assembly or Ready For Transport for quite some time (those two steps were five weeks for me - car was done on 3/28 and finally on a ship on 5/4). There were no updates to the tracker until our cars were on a ship, then we suddenly jumped to "In Transit" - meaning steps like "Waiting For Carrier Assignment" and "At the Port" were skipped entirely.

Your best bet is to see which vehicle carriers that might be associated with moving bimmers (Glovis ships, WW ships, that kind of thing) are in port at Veracruz. Once they leave, your tracker will flip to "In Transit", but not until 2-3 days after the ship has left port. There are currently three good candidates heading into Veracruz at the moment: Chesapeake Highway (5/16), Bravery Ace (5/16), Frontier Ace (5/17). The two 'Ace' ships are the most likely bets. There are other vehicle carriers on the schedule, but they are not names I've seen associated with carrying BMWs.

Unfortunately, the tracker is so poorly updated that it's not of much use at all...and often produces more stress and frustration than it provides help.

Mine did this also. My understanding is that it drops back when it's released to the trucking company, and then it jumps back forward when it arrives at the dealer. Either way, mine did this exact same thing at this stage.
