Just to add another data point. I was told my car would be built the 15th week of the year. So the week of April 10th. Well to my surprise today I checked and my car has moved to production begins and a VIN was issued! So either the production week is a completion week, not the start or they were way off. Very interesting.

Well I am still sitting at production begins and now when I call BMW genius they said they dont know when it will be done.

Finally saw some progress today. When I put in my order on 2/11 the dealer had an open allocation and told me week 14 production, which is this week by my count. Moved to 112/Scheduled for Production on 3/11 and has been sitting there ever since (checking multiple times a day doesn’t seem to help). Just now it skipped a few steps and shows as Assembly in Progress.

Seems like they don’t do a great job of updating the system, but nice to see some progress just the same. Hoping maybe I’ll have it within a couple more months, although I assume a lot depends on the availability of a ship.

That sucks. I asked my dealer if they had a free allocation and what their waiting list looked like before placing my deposit

Well to be fair you only placed the deposit a couple weeks ago... from what I understand allocations come once a month.

Ask your dealer this: "How many M240 allocations have you been getting each month historically? And how many people are ahead of me in line for allocation?"

That will give you an idea of when you should expect your allocation. My dealer gets one allocation per month for reference. Two people were a head of me so i waited about 2 months before my order was placed.

Dealer knows about the time frame for their allotment. My dealer could see they weren't getting one for a while so traded another model allotment for mine. I still waited 7 months from deposit to delivery.

I would keep bugging sales manager.

Yeah that’s what’s bothering me, that they seem unwilling to try to horse trade to speed things up.

9/14/22 - Put down Deposit, was told I was 5th in Line for an Allocation
10/17/22 - Moved up Two Spots, now 3rd in Line
11/17/22 - No Allocations
12/17/22 - Moved up One Spot, now 2nd in Line
1/17/23 - Moved up One Spot, now 1st in Line
2/28/23 - Allocation received!!
3/18/23 - Scheduled for Production on Week 17, aka the week of 4/23. She said production takes about 2-Weeks, then they schedule shipment.
4/10/23 - Stage moved to Production Begins!!

I'd say we are still looking good for a June delivery.

Don’t get too excited, I was in production begins for almost 3 weeks. My car was slated to be completed this week and it just went to “Ready for Transport”. The worst part was after flying through the production line it spent over a week in Quality check.

And 2 months from final anssembly to delivery. For me, last fall, it took 3 weeks from final assembly to delivery at my dealership in Texas. But that’s by far the shortest boat ride. (One day)
