I personally use Pandora on my iPhone, and have a paid subscription so that I don't have to hear the insert commercials. When you start out, Pandora will ask you to seed it with a few of your favorite songs. It then uses some top-secret algorithm to find other music that it thinks you'll like. Each song it plays has a thumbs up and thumbs down button. One tells Pandora to skip that song and you don't like it, and the other tells it that you like that song and want to hear more like it. After a few years, you will have Pandora's artificial intelligence programmed to the point where it is like a radio station that always plays your favorite songs. For CarPlay, you should be able to just plug your phone into one of the USB ports and a new Apple-looking screen will pop up on the dashboard display. If your car also has wireless CarPlay, you can follow the instruction manual to pair your phone and skip the plug. All of the music and navigation/map apps on your phone should display as icons on your dashboard display, and work more or less the same as on your phone. Playlists? I have no clue how to set one up in Apple Music. (I even have a free unlimited Apple Music subscription on my phone from Verizon that I have never used!) I'm old, and the last play list that I made involved stacking a pile of 45 RPM records onto the phonograph spindle.....

Whether it's Pandora, Spotify or Apple, the music is not on your phone. Create the account, set up playlists on the website and the phone app will handle it all. Spotify streams my playlists from the cloud...

OR you could rip the CD to USB, and plug that into your car
No rubbing required |

Rumor has it that most recent cars have a small stereo headphone-like connector that works as an audio input jack for things like cassette Walkmans, portable CD players, 8-track tape decks, etc for us old geezers and analog-natives.....

Well, if I'm understanding your post correctly and you don't have any music on your phone at all, Apply Play won't be of much use... Do you have a digital music selection somewhere, like on your PC (mp3 files for example)? If so, you can buy one of these little USB-C thumb drives and copy those files to it: USB-C thumb drive. Then, in your center arm rest compartment, just plug it in to the slot located in there and select that as your music source from iDrive. It's pretty easy, assuming you have a digital music source to copy to the drive. As an added benefit, your music will sound significantly better than streaming from Sirius. I've recently discovered you can buy a USB dock for a SSD hard drive and plug it directly in to read music files. It's a bit more clunky than a little thumb drive I guess, but good if you have a big library.

LOL, I did too until a couple of months ago! - I ripped them all to digital format...took me a couple of weeks as I had about 220 CDs. I just did it while I sat on one Zoom meeting after another for work.
Tell you what, keep an eye out for a PM from me... |

Word of note, but play the digital copy, and then play the CD, and hear if there is a difference. I've learned that you lose quality in recording to the mp3 format.

...when you remember the days when cars weren't required to have passenger side mirrors...and most didn't!

I bought a iPod Touch and keep it in the console, but I mostly just listen to '70s on 7 on SiriusXM. The only place I even have CDs in use is in my 2007 F-250. I've had the same six CDs in the player for years.

I bought my daughter a '66 Mustang years ago. It only had the driver side mirror. Don't know if it was added or not. I went to a vintage Mustang store and got her a passenger one. Also had to add seatbelts.

I added the factory passenger side mirror to my 1980 MK1 VW Rabbit. The pre-threaded screw holes to mount it were already in the door and covered with plastic pop-out caps, IIRC. I found the mirror on a wrecked VW Dasher in a junkyard, and it was apparently the same as the Mk1 Rabbit. Side-view mirrors in those days didn't have electric or manual adjusters inside the car, so they were simple to add but required walking around the car to adjust them. How did we survive?????
