Let me start here, this noise gave me such a complex every am. Based on the road I drove everyday, I anticipated every spot where I’d hear it. To date, the sound has now been significantly muffled, if not completely removed. Where I’m at now is trying to figure out what are the normal sounds this car should make going over bumps, but absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, like I heard previously. If this is the way forward with this car, I’m 100 percent good.

Not sure why my oem Bilstein replacement was ignored if everyone is looking for an answer for 2 years but hey ho , I've just ordered a set for the back and feeling confident, not sure why everyone keeps going back to the dealer knowing it will just be ignored or replaced with the same parts.

If no one complains and brings the car back to the dealer then BMW will never take corrective action

I get that and my car is only 12 months old but people have been trying and not succeeding for over 2 years made me think that its not going to change , they might change your shocks but will not change the manufacturer so your kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Just wanted everyone to know that i had my newly purchased Bilstein rear shocks fitted today and to say I was nervous is an understatement, this is my second m240i with the first also having the bobble from the rear , my current m240i is a year old with only 1700 miles and had the same noise but louder ....probably due to my eibach springs , i just didn't want to get on another Bmw warranty treadmill going around in circles so decided to take a punt and kept my fingers crossed, pulled out of the garage and straight away I knew it had gone 😀 drove around some real nasty roads worrying at every bump but everything thing was OK and im delighted 😀 I know you shouldn't need to do this but for me it payed off and just wanted to let people know , good luck.

Does anyone have the actual text of the TSB? I'm sure there are several interested people here.

Tegs200 Could you please provide the part number?

I was thinking the same to replace only rear dumpers. I do not want to lower the suspension only get rid of thumps....

I found this part:
https://www.bilstein-shocks.co.uk/products/20-303334

Ok, I found your previous posts,,,, same part... awesome.
I'm going to do the swap as you. Only back.

Really cool because the full package costs significantly higher.
If the issue is fixed I'll write here my battle with the noise and share my opinion about BMW which is aware to my mind of the issue but since not everyone cares why to fix it...

The reason I haven’t taken mine to BMW with the issue is because nobody seems to have any success with BMW repairing it anyway. The dealer is over a hour away for me and I work a lot. I also don’t care for leaving it with them in the densely urban area they reside so that I can get it back with dings and rock chips and scratches. My dealers service department seems particularly poor in technical aptitude based on previous experience so I have little confidence in my particular dealer being the hero that cracks this case.

It’s good to hear that the 3 series shocks seem to have solved it. Only thing that has me scratching my head is why everyone only hears it on the right side when the car uses the same shock left and right?

Oh, well when I use your link and then take the bmw part number cross references from it, and put those numbers into BMW microfiche, it comes up as shocks for a 3 series.

I just noticed now that directly on that page on your link it also says g20/g80

Went to my BMW dealers service department today and provided them with the service bulletin number posted by BMW-M (R_NE SEL-SEL-P-33-20000994548681-02 - 2024-10-16). They said they were short staffed since it was a Saturday and would get back to me during the week. If they do I will report back with what they say.
