After all, Porsche price gouges beyond belief. They charge like $200 for a fuckin' gloss black badge.

…and if you've never sat in a base 911 without any upgraded leather packages, you'll understand completely why I likened it to a 328i.

You're a Porsche fan boy (…not necessarily a bad thing on the surface; I'm one as well, but just living in reality) who is being unrealistic about true Porsche ownership, Porsche culture, how people use a 911, etc. I don't think anybody confuses M2 potential with 911 potential. The core discussion about daily drivability favors the car with more useful attributes.
Your opinions on the 911s capabilities and uses do not equal fact. Plenty of people who daily much more compromised cars - based on your criteria - and are 100% happy about it. Just because you don't see it that way, doesn't make it so.

This tangent needs to end so we can simply discuss the G87.
Geez! You two have reading comprehension issues.

Back to the G87!

Good luck! Lol! Every thread about any new BMW eventually devolves into a, "You should just buy [insert Porsche model here]" discussion. Porsche should rarely ever be brought up as a direct comparison/alternative for a myriad of reasons.

Why does it look so unfinished/bland compared to the M240i? It's like the uncanny valley and I can't explain why I don't like it...

In that walk through video of the M240i, the designer did say he saw this car in Blue Sky and looked "stunning." Guess that may have had something to do with final color here.

Sharp angles but softer edges I think give it that look you are talking about being unfinished. That why I kinda compare the look to the R34 Skyline.

The M240i front has those sharp angles but sharp lines/creases. Funny but I am liking the M240i lines more and more as time goes by and really wanting to order one.

Watching the M240i walk around video with the designer, I understand more what he was going for in the 240i and the lines he pointed out that weren't very obvious to me like the "muscles" on the fender flares that angle toward the sharp horizontal line going down the side of the car. I think color choices really will make a difference in how the car looks and how much those features like the "muscle" lines pop out.

I am hoping it is just the light blue color and black wheels making it look "off". I am eager to see a darker metallic color.

A render (ignore the side grill) in Mineral White Metallic?? Again I think it comes down to color to be able to show the subtle lines and "muscles."

I'm thinking of getting an M240i and been leaning Brooklyn Gray because I think Whites make it too plain and not wanting the others BG seems to be the best "safe" color. But after seeing this blue I am thinking I am tired of this trend of flat colors. Not exciting but right now leaning to Mineral White Metallic if it can show lines like below.

Good render. It's hard to capture the look of Mineral white in pictures, but this is pretty good.

As for the "Baby" Blue, I just don't like it. I think any of the other potential colors will look better.

Because the paint is not metallic and also looks like primer with a hint of blue. ZB blows chunks.

True, but I don't like that the bottom center of front bumper is gloss black. Should have been body color.

I wish they still added a polished/satin frame around the kidney grills. I understand the clean minimalist design. But the grill looks too plain/cheap/unfinished?

BMW Marketing: People want frames around the grilles.

BMW Design Team: Let's start working on making strips of light as the frame like the XM for the G87 LCI.

Need the style/finish of frames they use on the Hommage vehicles.

If I get a M240i, I'd like to have the grill and even the triangle pieces on the front intakes in a satin aluminum finish. I think it would look good on a Mineral Metallic white or even BG.

I'll be patient though and reserve final judgement until I see one in black lol
Which is exactly why the lower lip of the bumper should be body colored. I can't believe something as simple as that which would make the front more visually appealing and aggressive wasn't done

Because that blue under that lighting makes it looks like paint primer.
