That being said, Mishimoto still offers higher capacity radiators and oil cooler that should cool more. It's worth considering. |

On a seperately note, I'm happy to see so many people adopting the concept of added 3rd party protection here. We have had 2 G8X engine replacements at my dealership (that I know of) because of damaged oil coolers. This is a rare occurance, but common enough for me to recommend protection to all the G8X owners I come across. |

You should add G42 M240 (and 230?) to the list, too. |

I had a nightmare last night. Ran over some wood pieces and broke something in the front, at first it was water then it was oil, then… I had no car.

If the driver turns the car off on the intial low oil warning, do you think an engine replacement is still necessary? I’m not trying to knock the OP, but he drove (without another option) for .5 miles after the car said shut down immediately. I think if he was able to shut it down immediately, the engine would have been ok. |

He had two choices, risk personal safety and pull over in a construction zone blocking a lane or get off on the next exit. He did the later and I would have done the same. Cars are replaceable. |

I'd take this one step further; I'd be under the car with the techs when get the sample and even get a sample of oil for myself to send in for independent analysis. I'd also be there when they perform the compression test. But that's just me, I trust no one when the stakes are this big. |

That is only if you order the cooling and high performance tire package...then the additional downward facing oil cooler is added. The vast majority of M340i's do not have that package. Prior to ordering new, I followed the used M340i market for months, and maybe 1 out of 100 cars had that package. We just ordered and bought a 2024 M340i and spec'd out the M adaptive suspension and wheels (which included raised speed limiter) from that package but specifically didn't order the package due to the oil cooler issue (car isn't going to be tracked, so it's not needed...have an M3 and M2C for that).

As a separate item, I don't think BimmerLink can generate alarms off sensor values. Will be checking and reaching out to BimmerLink - could be a possible help..

Did you switch over to the CSF from your mishimoto oil cooler? I looked at the prices and a new csf oil cooler is only a little bit more than a skid plate from Mishimoto and the latter has built in protection which kind of makes it a no brainer when chasing power.
