The faulty Knock Sensor is used in the B46, B48, B58, B58TU, and S58 engines. So, yes it could absolutely cause Stop Sales in the G42. Hopefully not, of course.

Dealer called me again this morning. Car still at Southampton and doesn't know when it will turn up at their emporium in the leafy suburbs of the great metropolis. That's 66 days and counting since production was completed. Remind me to order a model built in Germany next time.

Are you still in the RFT stage? I’ve been in the RFT stage since May 19th.

For you West Coast people:
Ordered my M240i Xdrive almost fully optioned at the end of Feb, order accepted end of March. Build week 22. Car finished on the 31st of May. I was watching the Aries Leader, she was at anchor off the coast of Port Lazaro Cardenes for 4 days. She was scheduled to arrive on the 4th of June. After 4 days she spent 4 days in port. From several calls to the Genus line, BMW doesn't really have exposure where the cars are at once they leave the factory until they are on the ship. The next update they get is 2 days after the ship departs the port. One person on the Genus Line told me that Mexico is very slow in updating information. I got very lucky, after only 11 days after production my car is on the Aries Leader. |

Called BMW Genius today to see if they could provide any details on progress. Just stated as of now it has missed the production completion expectation by a week, but could not provide any details on why its missed the completion date but provided some examples of possible issues, like parts shortage, etc. I was hoping the website was just lagging behind and my car was done, but sounds like that’s not the case…. Just chilling in the factory partially completed with no ETA.

I was talking to my sales guy the other day, he said before COVID, on dealer ordered cars for inventory, when it got close to the model year end. Their ordered cars at times would come with options they didn't order. The factory would add items to just get rid of the parts. He had a name for it, I just can't remember, he would get cars that had items that where not included or available with a certain package but there it was. I find that interesting.
